I attempted to delete Canola via the Application Manager. Well, after doing so, it no longer shows up under installed apps, but it's still present.
Dpkg shows a bunch of canola entries. What do I need to do to put a stake through this app's heart ? :)

Since you are already looking at it with dpkg, how about 'dpkg -r canola' That should do the trick.
hope this helps,
Craig...

That's the problem, canola isn't the package name.
dpkg - warning: ignoring request to remove canola which isn't installed.
There are 31 different packages associated with canola. I thought that canola-app or canola-applet would be meta-packages that would delete the whole shebang, but that's not the case.

I went ahead and wrote a script to nuke canola. Problem solved, but with a sledgehammer not a rapier :)
