they released a new version of X-Moto on their main website. It always seemed like a cool game to play on my n800, but it always seemed to run incredibly slow, way to slow to actually play.
Heres a link to their website if anyone wants to try compiling us a version from their update

I would love this on my N800 but I lack the knowledge and skill.

As would I, I played it some on OS2007, I just tried to install it on OS2008 and it was a no-go, it didn't give me what files it was missing so dunno what needs to be done to get the new version working on OS2008.
It's a great game and pushed me to dl Excitebike on my Wii as well as FINALLY finding an original copy for GBA/DS..
I just discovered this game in the debian packages, that would be a great addition :-D

This would be great. I have a flash game that is very similar but runs far too slowly to be any fun so maybe an N900 port of this would be the ticket.

I ran x-moto in easy debian on the n900 and it runs like a dog, completely unplayable. A port to maemo directly would be great :)

You're trying to run the level editor? (inksmoto) I am guessing that you would access the level editor from one of the menus in Inkscape.
If you intended to try to port x-moto, you'll need to download the x-moto source file and then convert all the opengl code to opengles. This is not an easy task.

You guys may want to have a look at the last xmoto thread (yeah it's mine;) )

This version is already in theN900 repos and has many of the user generated levels. There has been some great UX changes but some comments on why this does not run with OpenGLS. The original N800 file is included too
Worth a looksie for reference

Also, more freedom with setting up controls would be great, it's the type of game where adjusting controls to better fit the player makes all the difference on winning or loosing

Have you tried editing the config.dat file to set the controls to your taste?

sed -i -e '/KeyDrive1/s:Up:X:' /home/user/.xmoto/config.dat
Brake
sed -i -e '/KeyBrake1/s:Down:S:' /home/user/.xmoto/config.dat
Any chances of some kind Mod merging this topis with the "Xmoto running on N900 now in Repos" thread?

having to manually edit a file or run console commands is not the same thing as setting controls inside the game itself...

I agree with that Tiago, but once you have set the controls that suits you, then you will not have the need to change them again. I know i have never come across a game where I have felt the need to keep hanging the controls on a level by level basis in any game that I have ever played?
But that IS just me I suppose. Eveybody is different :)

Not changing on each leveçl, but until i find a suitable control set in the N900 it might be similar to doing that; and it isn't just changing between levels, you gotta close the whole thing and then launch again for the changes from the file catching on, no?
Also, can i remap the accell input with the file? And can i mix accell and keys/buttons for the same controlset? (shaking to flip gets in the way of precise controls)
