Saddest part is that the fool who stole it is trying right now to insert a sim card........ *sigh* ... my condolences for sure.

yeah im going to get another one when i can afford it , thing thats embarassing is that the woman who bought it for me as a present is the one that took it... woke up yesterday and she had taken it and my cell phone (which she also bought me as a gift)...not sure why as we didnt have an argument or anything... kind of embarassing i guess

Oh. Well then the greater loss is actually the loss of a woman willing to lavish such nice gifts on you. You can buy another N810, but where are you going to find another sugar-momma?

Sorry for your loss, this brings up an idea though.
I'm still new to linux, but it seems powerful.
Would it be possible to have a job run when connecting to the internet?
Maybe have an email sent to a predefined address with ip, date, time, and gps data if a connection is made outside your network you've defined as home.

haokah, that's a good idea. You see all those Apple laptops being recovered because it automatically uploaded some pics and info on the theif!

Seriously. A password protected app, that automatically polls a server every three hours for a status you've set. If the status is 'missing' and the device is online, then it sends an email to notify you that the device is online, and automatically and silently updates device coordinates on the same server every 5 minutes. You can use the server's website to track it silently without the thief knowing.
It would also be great if you could also set off an alarm (maximum volume) and password-lock the screen when you got close.
Now if only there was a way to make the impending confrontation easier :D
}:^)~
