Is there ANY alternatives to the glacial and frustrating option of downloading 100's of mg of maps through a wireless tablet connection?
I don't have a N810, but I think you can download the maps with an external pc, with faster internet access, and then transfer it to a sd card and put it on the N810.:rolleyes:
I simply started the download before I went to bed with the power adaptor plugged in...
...700+MB loaded when I got up.
I prefer Maemo Mapper (if I can get the GPS working) as all the routing options cost extra.

One advantage to Wayfinder is that an Internet connection (wifi or bluetooth tether) shouldn't be necessary to use it.
Unless you want to use it for routing...

You don't need a connection for routing.
Only for activation of the license and the glacial speed download of the maps the OP talks about.
