I'm having problems moving my programs into different categories on the menu. I moved a couple, but now dragging programs over to the folder where you want them to be just results in bounce-back. Is this a known problem? Is there a file somewhere I can just edit by hand?

Not experiencing this problem myself, but read [1] for more information about how the ITOS organises the programs in the menu.

Had the same problem occasionally. Just retry the drag and eventually, it will take.

I really can't seem to reproduce any of the problems other people reported on the new OS. I'm trying hard, though, so keep posting them.

I've noticed it to, and noticed that you have to 'drop' the item EXACTLY in the folder area, or else it won't take. Took quite a bit of experimenting to catch on.

Got to:
Control Panel- Personalization- Panels- Applications Organize

I seem to have more control from here.

That's what I've been doing. Can you do it somehow else?

Got to:
Control Panel- Personalization- Panels- Applications OrganizeI assume that's what the OP was doing. Are you aware of any other way?

This was a lot easier in 2007, where you clicked 'move' to move things. Thanks for the responses.

What would be nice in the 'organize' is to allow your own shortcuts, or edit the launch options of other shortcuts...

but yes it took me a bit to realize I had to drag and drop

Is there any possibility to create sub-folders like in OS 2007?
This new flat menue structure on 2008 seems to be reactionary for me...

This completely doesn't work for me. I haven't been able to.move ANYprograms to different folders for DAYS. Well, once I somehow succeeded in moving several, and before I could close, they jumped back to their original positions.

I would like to see a message from someone that says:

"I have made extensive changes in my menus!"

Can anyone say that? If so, how did you do it??

It turns out that to.make the drop successfully you have to make it very quickly and in the part of the field you are moving it to that is close to the midline. I think this is a bug.
