skype chat thumb board doesn't work

i just upgraded to 2008 an i love it because it's much faster, however i chat with skype a lot and i can't get the thumb keyboard to pop up no matter how hard i jab the screen. it was hard to bring up in os2007 too, but a good jab in the right spot usually worked. the select key doesn't work to bring it up in skype as in other aps. i assume this is an isue everyone has? i would appreciate any thoughts on this problm.
i guess this bug has been noted by others. but with skype i can't even use the middle d-pad button.

I have this problem as well, and mentioned it the long thread about bugs in final OS2008 release. Glad to see I'm not the only one, but this is an annoying little bug.

It seems like there are a lot of problems with invoking the thumb keyboard in this release.
