Can someone port/create Drug Wars for the 770? It'd be an awesome game to waste time with; and relatively easy to do!
Unix version:
http://dopewars.sourceforge.net/
The version I'd love to see on the 770:

Interesting game. Sort of an urban strategy game. Buy in the getto and sell in Central Park? It seems prices sure have risen since my college days :)

You're telling me. There was one version that offered guns, knives, bullet proof vests but I have yet to find it. I'd love to do a remake and draw some graphics for it. Looks like I might have to learn Python, sigh.
None of the existing *nix/other versions have all the features combined in the versions I've seen.

One of the links you gave stated that you could play it text-only via IRC. That's an option, isn't it?

Excellent, cheers man! My 770's sitting on the desk at home but I'll try it out right away (and I won't complain about bugs, ask for support, etc). :)

Mr. Wilson: I've been playing this for days without a hitch. I wanted to thank you again, it's the perfect little game for the 770. (Mind you I've offloaded a lot of drugs when the subway stops suddenly but what can ya do). Cheers man.

No problem Hedgecore. I put little axtra effort into it and updated it to have an Icon so that it is easier to use. Switch windows etc..

Could someone port Spacetrader?

Space trader rocks. And thought the code is GNU/GPL it is written for the Palm-OS. So it would be a bit of a big porting project I am afraid.
There IS a linux Elite descendant (All of the games we have mentioned so far are Elite descendants) calle OOlite. It might be easier to port, except it has lots of graphics code (openGL) which may be trouble...
I would LOVE to see a space trader clone on the 770. I would pay $10 for one! Devs? ;)

I finally recreated a dopewars deb for IT 2006. It has a bit of sound this time.

I recently moved and had to wait a while for the cable guy hence internet access.

Awesome! You sir, kick ***. Like I said before, this is a perfect little game for the 770.
... and like I said in another thread, anyone interested in making something like TradeWars from scratch?

Problem:
This is my first experience with Dope Wars and I have to say it's highly addictive. The problem I'm having is that it just says "good bye" to me in the middle of the game. I usually have about $300K, a decent inventory, 9 B*tches, a few guns, and my health is 100.
I installed the deb version referenced above.
Any help on why it's dropping me in the middle of a game would be appreciated.
Thanks!

It's a free download (http://www.cs.unimaas.nl/p.spronck/picoverse/spacetrader/SpaceTrader.zip), and should run fine on POSE PalmOS emulator (it is palmos 2.0)
Instead of spending $10, how about testing out POSE and some of your fav palm apps? Need testers/feedback.

Just a quick question about drug wars, It appears to only play for 30 days (in game time) and then shuts down. is there anyway someone can edit the game so that it would allow you to play unlimited? Maybe thats not even possible...thanks!

You could probably edit it, but all drugwars games I have ever played have only lasted 30 days.

Yeah, same here all the computer versions ive played end after 30 days as well. I kinda figured that it would be a pretty simple edit, but I would have no idea where to start. I was hopeing someone on here with a little knowledge could either do it, or post up some advice if its something easy enuf.

I have tried that version of Dopewars (unfortunately another example of an application floating around the forum instead of living in Extras).
Well, it works, but unfortunately some of the items in the screen are too tiny so it's quite difficult to play with it.
I hope it gets someone's attention as it wouldn't require too much changes to work properly.

Actually, the Palm OS version is far more playable through GarnetVM than the native one.
