Not sure why this is happening, but it this normal?

I have a wireless router connected via ethernet to my PC. I have three options to transfer video files to my N810.
1. File on PC to N810 via USB - Fastest
2. Download file direct from internet to N810 via WLAN - Quite Fast
3. File on PC to N810 via WLAN - Slow

Why is option 3 about half as fast as option 2, and is this normal? Both 2 & 3 use the same wifi router. Sounds like there is a bottle-neck between my PC's hard drive and the router. One would never think an internet file transfer is faster then a hard drive file transfer over the same wifi router?

During the day I'm on my PC, so downloading the files to the PC is convinient, then later at night I transfer them via wifi to the N810 for viewing. What can I look for that would make this faster?

Thanks

Different protocols and software could cause the slowdown you see. I haven't tested my transfer speeds, so I can't say whether the N8X0 is generally slow accessing Windows shares.

I remember a thread saying that cifs (samba) is quite slow as compared to other protocolos. So if you download using ftp/http it's quite normal to be faster than using cifs.

Which IP did you specify for the case 3? Was it an IP in the internal LAN (kind of 192.168.0.*) or did you use your "external IP"? I'm wondering if using the external IP could explain the slow rate, because it is routed through your modem, which usually have slower upstream (compared to downstream) speeds.
