View Full Version : Pimlico Apps ever Updated?

I was looking at the Pimlico Suite again (Contact, dates, etc) and I really do like the more polished feel over GPE, but it seems like it hasn't been updated since the about boxes date of 2006.
Still no sync module and no real way to sync to anything.
Has it actually been updated recently, or is it a more or less dead project? I don't want to move my contacts from GPE (which at least sync to Evolution) if its a dead horse.
hard to tell, their contacts app had a version bump recently. but i have yet to see it packaged for maemo. and from the release notice i got the impression that they dont much care about maemo as it said that maemo specific bugs had not been looked into...
and that sync app seems basically dead...

Latest version of Dates is 0.4.6, which is the exact same version you should have from maemo.o-hand.com. Nothing wrong here :)
It's just one of those smaller, quieter applications, so it doesn't have an enormously fast development process. Yet...

It says you can sync it because of EDS, but I'll be darned if I can fugure out how.
It just seems like its a good app without any support.

Alas, Pimlico Sync is still under construction. It should be a straight-forward thing, when it happens, if you have a GNOME desktop, since Evolution is what GNOME uses, too.
Conduit would work for sync, and I recall it has a Maemo port as well. Seems to be missing in action, but it should reappear some day.

Yea, It *should* be easy as they both use EDS. With the whole suite seeming to be MIA, I guess I'll have to stick with GPE.
My thought was that I should be able to copy the EDS Database from my PC to the NIT and have pimlico use that since they both use EDS, but I don't know if is possible.
hmm, while not fully related, i noticed that one better make sure that the pim suite one use on the computer is first in any opensync setup. i had gpe eat my whole calendar because it, not kde-pim, was set at first, and after the diablo update it was empty...

Does the "contacts"-application simply provide a different user interface to the built in address book? The one used by chat and mail etc.? If so, it should sync easily with SyncEvolution... provided Contacts runs on Diablo and Syncevolution does, too. (It could well be that they both don't.)

Contacts runs, but I haven't seen syncevolution for maemo.
Did I overlook it?

I haven't seen syncevolution for maemo.

I used it on my 770 a lot. Now the 770 is gone and Syncevolution seems to be in a phase right before a new release (and doesn't give any information about its compatibility with Diablo), I thought I'd better wait.

Yes. It uses the same database so you can add other info (street addresses, etc.) that the built-in voip contacts manager won't display but at least won't clobber either.

I was looking at SyncEvolution and it might work, except that it requires a third party interface (ie scheduleword, Funabol). I rely on Google Calendar, Contacts, etc and I didn't see where it would sync to Google contacts, or directly to my Evolution on the desktop. FYI, anyboy have a working script?
EDIT:
I tried to download the package from Downloads, the SyncEvolution Site, and even a direct entry. It seems there are no packages available to get! The packages.tar.gz exists, but there is no actual file to download for the n810 or otherwise.

I wouldn't use google for more than absolutely necessary. All my contacts are in evolution. I sync them to scheduleworld, sync my mobile to scheduleworld and used to do the same with my old 770. Was a nice workflow and allowed me to sync wherever I was, not only when I was right at my desktop.

:(
It's such a pity that the most useful applications sometimes just disappear. It should have been in extras in the first place. The way it is now, nobody ever finds it, so it's no wonder the author might think nobody's interested. :(

FYI, there is a new beta (http://www.estamos.de/blog/2008/07/13/syncevolution-08-beta-1/) of syncevolution.
Hoever, I get a segfault when I run it.
Can anybody get it to work?
