I almost found out how to do most of this without actually having to save the file to the nokia and than convert it.
I went to mobile youtube (www.m.youtube.com)
and I went to play a video file. It opens the file with the video player thats already installed on the device. The video loads, instead it will say error. This is because the player cannot play .flv files.
What I am trying to find out is if you can install an .flv plugin onto the device, and if it can be able to play the file afterward.
Please help me out, I been trying to do this, and finding ways to do this for the past 3 days and its really squeezing my brains out!!

Another alternative is www.keepvid.com , which can handle just about any streaming video site.

It is python based, works on OS2008HE and OS2007HE for sure.
You can use the canola2 youtube player add on if you already have the canola beta.

I just saw a video on youtube showing how to download and watch videos on the Nokia 770 using KeepVid. Search youtube for Nokia 770 plus KeepVid. Very easy to do. Must use mplayer to watch youtube videos.

I don't know if it will work on your N770 but you can get myTube here:

What makes you think that? It isn't using flash to do it.
I have nokia 770 with OS2008HE and I can't install mytube.
I have python 2.5
and mytube says "Unable to install. some application packages required for installation are missing" python-gdata()

Personally, I use Canola to view/save Youtube files. I have also used uktube, although it's not as easy as Canola.
Only issue with Canola is that the new version of C2tube isn't "supported" on the 770 / OS2006 anymore so it won't install. You can download it and manually copy the files needed and that works tho. I've done that.
Works pretty well.. Although Canola is really nice, it has a pretty big footprint/initial load time, so I usually copy/rename the files and view them with mplayer for quicker access. When I need to watch the Large_Hadron_Rap, I can't always wait to load Canola! :-)
Good luck,

The latest for Bora never works for me in 2007 HE.
Mytube works but Myplayer causes it to lag and crash and freeze.
Can't get Canola 2's plugin to work either!

I found my own little trick to viewing my fave Youtube videos converted to Hi-Quality 3GPG files.
A site called Vuclip!
The mobile site is the one that works.
By going to this link: Vuclip Classic (http://vuclip.com/),type in what you are searching for,and wait for the site to convert it to a 3GPG file.
After it processes the file at 100 percent, you can click on 'Play' or 'High-Res'.
Doing so opens the dialoge to open or save the video as a 3GP file.
Simple clicking Save and saving to your MMC works.
You can then play back any Youtube video saved as a 3GPG file this way about 90 percent of the time. Hi-res videos saved look much better. As good as one saved as say AVI.
Videos work right in the Video player!
