Installing new applications

Hi all! I just got a new 770 from eBay and....I love it!
Having updated the system to the 2006 beta, how can I install new applications?

Keep looking in this forum and also www.maemo.org for info regarding everything about the 770. Short answer, download the *.deb file and run it, must be compiled for OS 2006 though, which all apps will be soon (I hope :)

...and growing fast :D

There are a few other apps lurking unreleased (added the repositories needed to install xterm and found that the maemo games startup application was in there - any chance someone could make the Doom muliplayer .deb 2006-compatible?

(or if it's something a non-programmer could do, give me a rough idea, and I'll have a bash at it?)
