Well, the 2006 update beta has FIXED the pairing problems with the Treo 650. The treo needs to be in DUN mode of course, but the 770 will now connect to it without requiring a security code every time.
Big note: If you're using Cingular and you use the connection wizard to set up the connection, it will default to ISP.CINGULAR.COM as the access point.
You WILL get charged for access on this apn unless you have one of their tethering-allowed plans (typically laptop or pda I think).
Normal Cingular users with the medianet plans should use WAP.CINGULAR.COM. Heed this or pay up at the end of the month guys.

I been fiddleing with Cingular setting for a long time trying to get Max throughput on data. I recently purchased a new faster edge data phone and noticed settings for proxy i had never noticed befor. (wireless.cingular.com) is the proxy server and port 80 is the port. try adding that info into your connection settings on the 770.
Control Panels/Connectivity/Connections/CINGULAR INTERNET/Edit/Next/Next/Advanced/Proxies check use proxy and enter wirleless.cingular.com into the HTTP proxy field. Made a huge difference for me. As partridge said settings should be as follows.
APN: WAP.CINGULAR
DIAL-UP NUMBER: *99***1#
USER NAME: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
PASSWORD: CINGULAR1
Iv been getting some crazy insane speed test results.

wow- GNARLY speeds (477 kbps tested thru http://performance.toast.net but could be a fluke) with those settings!!
however with that 80 proxy server, I can't seem to stream audio or open certain encrypted sites.....
Still, it is VERY fast with your settings, thru my EDGE sony ericsson phone
and I can just turn off the proxy if I wanna stream.
MUCH faster
VERY cool, man!! How did you figure this out, and are you able to stream with these settings?
Thanks!

WOOooooopS Hadnt realy done alot of testing with any other apps. But on the bright side its pretty @$#&^% fast! And its simple enough to set a seperate connection for the setting minus the tweaked proxy so you can just choose which one to connect to.
