Running a simple script with hardware keys?

I rifled through the message boards but couldn't find a answer on this.

I would like it if by pressing the Zoom Out hardware key, for it to send a string of "F9 F9 F9 Ctrl-R" instead of just "F9"

I'm a real newb so a copy and paste of what needs to be entered in Xterm or whatever else is needed would be absolutely delightful! *lol*
