no discount code in my mail box... [Archive] - maemo.org

Hello,

A few months ago, I got a confirmation from Nokia, that I was eligible for a discount code to be used at the Nokia 770 web shop.
But as of today, I still haven't received any code in the mail....

Is anyone else in the same situation?

I haven't' received a code yet either. I received the confirmation in July and sent them my contact information that they requested. I haven't heard anything since...

I think that this may be happening:

I supose they're still reprogramming the devices (with the latest fw)...
So they only send the codes when the a batch of units (50?) become ready to ship...
The first 50 (or so) units got done, and they've sent the codes and started shiping those... everyone else on the list will have to wait a little longer...
(maybe they-re reprograming the units, manually, one-by-one...)
but it's already been 4 days...

can anyone confirm this?
also, can anyone with an "inside" contact let us know what's really happening?

Another day has past... and still... I didn't get a code in my mailbox.... :(
I'm getting very disapointed.... It's been 5 days...

Did everyone who got a code, got it on monday?
or did anyone receive on a later day?

Except for that guy in Kentucky selling a "Brand new Nokia 770 Internet Tablet" on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-NEW-Nokia-770-Internet-Tablet_W0QQitemZ4412976850QQcategoryZ300QQssPageNa meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) (with original-looking photos and last bid at $305), it seems that no one in the Americas has received a code or device. Or if they have, they haven't written about it in their blog or to the Maemo mail lists.

I live in Europe... so I guess it's not only the Americans who didn't get a code yet...

10 days.... yes... it's already been 10 days since the 770 started to ship to developers...
And guess what... I STILL DON'T HAVE A CODE... NO EMAIL... NO NOTHING!

The initial expectations are turning into disapointment...

The least that they [Nokia/Maemo] could do, is to send an email to everyone accepted in the program, that didn't receive a code yet, and tell us what's going on!

I'm very... very disapointed....

But I bet it's an engineer who's responsible for sending these out, and not someone who usually manages contacts with 500 outsiders. Managing people's expectations is totally different than handling the problem of distributing 500 devices in somewhat piecemeal fashion.

Well.. I just got an email.... :)
No, it's not THE code..
but I am told that I will receive it, at a later date, "as soon as they can"...
So, it just won't happen yet.
I don't know if this means another week, or another month... but hey.. at least it's something... :o

I guess this aplies to everyone who received a confirmation, but didn't receive a code yet.

I'm in the U.S. and still waiting on a code... I've sent a couple of emails over the past few weeks and have not received any replies. If anyone knows what's going on, please let us know. Are we going to get our codes before the device goes on sale here?

It's already TWO minutes after you got your email with the code, and it STILL hasn't arrived in my mailbox.

Now I'm just going to have to go to gmail EVERY SINGLE MINUTE and click Inbox so that I can feel like I'm doing something while I wait.

[Hedgecore]: I live in Europe, but I'm a participant residing in a country other than that where Nokia 770 Internet tablet is available.
(altought, back when I applied to the program, my country was listed... but was later removed... :(
According to the email, they have no billing infrastructure for countries where the 770 is unavaliable, so, I will donate the 99eur directly to the GNOME Foundation under the "Friend of GNOME" program.
The email just said that "the device was sent", and I didn't get a tracking number...
Anyway.. I guess the transport will be free.. :)

Hm. I wonder where the email will come from. It's 2:45 pm here in New York, which makes it way into the night in Finland. If that's where the email is coming from, I guess I'm not on the Day 1 list. :o

But maybe the people sending it are in California! :)

Wonder if any developers residing in the U.S. have received their email/code today as promised by Devesh?

Instead of a code, They sent a link to checkout.

I had understood that the price would be 99 euros. The price charged, however, was $99, plus shipping of either $15 or $25.

It looks like the device will follow this same equivalence -- $350 here, about 350 euros there.

Yep. I'm in AZ and it was 15 or 25 making the $10 difference a no brainer.

I wonder when/if we'll get a shipping number, and if it will ship out today or tomorrow.

I received my 770 yesterday. ;)
I guess that by now every developer in Europe has received his/her unit, and (almost?) everyone in the US has been notified.. :)
