OK, I searched out file managers and decided I would try Canoe or GPE-FileManager, I loaded Canoe first and ran the install script. I didn't get any errors but I could not see that it did anything. So I then uninstalled and removed canoe. I installed GPE-FileManager through the application Application Manager. It installed properly and is in the list of installed applications but I can't figure out how to start it. I know it is something I am doing wrong but I can't figure out what.
Any help will be appreciated.

emelfm2 is my file manager of choice. Installed without a hitch.
i made some bug/feature reports on the GPE manager that should make it a bit more useful then it is right now. specifically, making it able to show .hidden dirs and files.

Where can I find it? it's not in my application manager. What repository should I add?

Are console file managers like mc or fdclone available on a vanilla N800?
Not sure how useful they are with regards to keyboard input though...
i think i have seen a version of MC on the repos.
