Hello folks.
I read the forum for some time and this is my first post.

I own the 770 for few days now and I planned to use it to surf the internet with my GPRS phone. This is a VPA Compact with Microsoft Windows CE (Windows Smartphone OS2003).
I was very disapointed as I figured out that my phone doesn't pair with my phone.

I read of the Windows Mobile hack on ThoughtFix Site (http://thoughtfix.blogspot.com/2006/02/howto-nokia-770-pairing-with-windows.html).
I managed to apply the descriped changes. But the 770 and my phone still doesn't pair (phone with no services).

Is the hack not working with Windows CE devices?
Is there anything I can do?

This really bugs me.

Thanks for advices in advance.

Noone with an idea?

My phone contract is still running a year. So a new phone is only an option in a year.

I really would like to get my 770 to work with the vpa.
what can I do?
Or do you know a compatible gprs phone which is available without contract and not that expensive?
umts would be cool, but that won´t be cheap at the moment, i guess. ;)

Thanks!

UMTS+Bluetooth is rather expensive in the US. I hear the UK is more civilized.

Most US providers will offer you a discounted rate if you're willing to extend your contract by another two years from that point. I've done this twice before with Verizon and heard similar things from Cingular.

I don't know what you consider not that expensive --- I see stuff like the SLVR L7 go for $170 unlocked (dealnews.com a few days ago.) I'm sure you can eBay an older model for cheap --- a Sony Ericsson T637 with bluetooth is going for $50 at the moment.

I already have a good dataplan (germany) but that is useless because I can't pair my two devices ;)

Thanks for the phone suggestions. I will have a look at ebay.

What a pitty that my VPA soesn't like my 770 :(
