I've been somewhat wondering if/when another 2008 OS update would show up as well. I didn't really see much talk about Nokia continuing to push out updates for Diablo while working on Fremantle. But, there was probably a thread I missed somewhere.

I'm actually really diappointed about the lack of SSU updates. When it was announced, I figured a bug fix update would be put out every week or so, but that hasn't happened at all. So, when will the next update be released? No one really knows...

You haven't seen the end of SSU updates. :)

Well, Nokia is still in the "big release" mindset. I get the feeling that this may be changing—glacially-slow, as with everything Nokia—but it is changing. For the time being we may have to suffer along with only slightly-more-frequent update releases but, hey, at least we don't have to reflash. ;)

Actually some have a fairly good idea. :D

The updates have not stopped. SSU is not dead. You'll all understand soon enough.

But, yeah, releasing SSU updates as fairly frequent hotfixes would certainly be reasonable.

well, fremantle is far away, but i would welcome, at least, better browser right now.

(besides, fremantle is hot news now, but as far as i remember, there should be elephanta after diablo)

Elephanta was cancelled. The next major OS release will be Fremantle. Alpha SDK will be shipping in November. Beta SDK - and possibly some on-loan developer devices - in about 2Q09. Release suggested about start of 2H09.

So it seems to be true, and very sad: no N900 before spring/summer 2009. I feel disappointed by Nokia since this is much too late indeed. My secret hope was they would take us by surprise and give us a new tablet at Christmas 08. Too bad. Now that means I will extensively (and with sympathy) check for alternatives and probably also skip stage 4.

As already mentioned, I really hoping for browser improvements. Getting messages that my browser is not supported is really bothersome.

Here's to hoping. Thanks for the tidbits Texrat and GA.

You'll all understand soon enough.

I HATE that lack of communication from Nokia.
And that kind of sentence, like "We already know, but you don't diserve to know until we decide you do" really piss me off.

Don't get me wrong Texrat, I really likeyour hints and comments. I also understand that Nokia doesn't want to reveal too much things to competitors, and NDA and all that stuff.
But, once in a while, saying "We are working on improving Modest and GPS, you'll get an update in the next weeks/months" would be really appreciated.

Right now, I don't even know if nokia cares about the bugs I fill in maemo bugzilla, nor if they are working on fixing bugs or rushing to Fremantle.

Maybe I'm asking too much...
