I just wanted to report on some recent success forwarding X11 from a remote ssh server to the 770. Following RealNitro's advice (http://blog.eikke.com/index.php/realnitro/2005/11/17/remote_x_sessions_on_nokia_770) I was able to successfully forward amarok and firefox to the 770 with very good performance (see attached pix running amarok). The only thing missing is mapping the kbrd to openssh. I think I now understand why the developers opted for X11 instead of a lightweight graphics interface like DirectFB. With only a little work, the 770 could be an incredible thinclient. Anyone know if there is anyfurther development on openssh for the 770 to allow for text entry, sound forwarding etc? I know there is a way to forward the esd output, but I haven't messed with that yet.

X11 forwarding with ssh seems to work pretty well with OS 2006.

Just do

ssh -X <user>@<host>

I logged into my MythTV system and started Firefox. I, too, found it very useable over my home LAN.

I also tried a small MythTV related app I wrote in TCL. Interestingly, it looked much different than it normally does (window resizing effects), but it was 100% useable.

Just for fun, I tried to start a MythTV Frontend. It actually loaded the initial menus, and I could navagate some of them. I am not daft enough to expect to stream video over X11, but having the Myth Main Menu on the 770 really looked Cool. :P
