googletalk fails with cellphone connection

i normaly use my cellphone as my main internet connection since i travel allot, i have no problem surfing or using any other apps but using the googletalk to make voips doesnt seem to work.

i use a nokia 6280 with 3g and bluetooth to connect.

any help would be greatly appreciated !

What's the throughput of your datastream? If it's low (ie a couple of KB per second) then maybe gTalk is timing out.

For what it's worth, I use googletalk over EDGE almost daily and it works just fine for me.

hi there, i have nokia 6680 and i am on t mobile 19.99$ unlimited internet plan.. Actually just today i had a chance to try it with gprs thru cell phone... it worked so smooth.. i was actually expecting some lags.. But it worked perfect.

You have mentioned that you are on 3g. What service provider you have?
with t mobile i never could go online with 3g... whenever i see 3g logo appears on my phone.. i loose everything i don't know why though...

Some service providers block the voip ports...
