We updated the youtube api (youtube changed the way to access videos) and it should be fine on the current beta9 update.

Be careful when "downgrading" and please make sure to disable extras devel.

@racky e @tonycripriani

We are trying to upload it again. It seems that some problem happened when uploading the new packages to maemo repositories (it's not straightforward as it should be)

anyhow I will let you guys now here, then you just update the plugin (remove / update) and it will work today. Don't worry.

@michael9830 : you have all the right to criticize, etc etc, after all it's a free world :)
But please dude, if you wanna help us improve the product we are all ears for anything you want to suggest but to say bad things it's not going to help.

If the software is not working for you and it's causing pain on your service exit, you just need to hit uninstall and to make sure you remove EVERYTHING we did you can use cleanup. We will send your money back. :)

The new version is already uploaded to the extras repository. We had a problem with maemo autobuilder which didn't let us upload the 0.1.4 version because it thought it was "older" than the 0.2.0.

As we did not want to upload it to the non-free queue so we waited for the help from Maemo Webmaster, Niels Breet, who removed the 0.2.0 version and we could finally upload the 0.1.4 version, which is working.

The 0.1.4 version is compatible *only* with beta9. I will include the patch for 0.2.0 and will upload it to extras-devel later today, so the beta10 users will be able to have youtube working again.

Oh heck yes, Canola is an amazing application. It makes me even more proud of open source technologies because with dedicated people like you, free software can rival that of expensive, commerical software like that for the iPhone.

use the epoch

Completely forgot about this field. Hopefully we won't need to upload another fix like this again. If it happens, we'll use epoch.

Zach when we are able to get the server (with GIT, and the the site running) than canola will be fully open source :) It is our goal now to deploy it (but also to keep developing it) as we are closing a "planned" roadmap for the next 10 months :)

Will this fix work with the desktop version of Canola too ?

Keep up the good(great) work !

UPDATE: Yep, i checked it seems to work. Got the plugin from
http://repository.maemo.org/extras/pool/diablo/free/c/canola-youtube-plugin/canola2-youtube-plugin_0.1.4-maemo1_all.deb
and followed the steps at

Just a note.
This update works in OS2006 on my 770. However, you can't just add the package.
I manually extracted the contents, backed up the original zip file and replaced it with the new zip and it worked for me. This is not supported so don't bug the Canola guys. :-)

I DL'd the file. I created a directory called tmp next to it.
I ran:
dpkg-deb -x canola-youtube-plugin_0.1.4-maemo1_all.deb tmp/

I backed up my original file from "/usr/share/canola/plugins/canola-tube.zip" and replace it with the one in my tmp extracted path.
And it worked.

No telling what else I broke, but.. :-)

YMMV

p.s. You could probably do a force install as well, but I wasn't that brave. And I typed the above from memory, so double check it first. :-)

Hi there,

Not trying to push but wondering when 0.2.0 will be ready for beta10?

I'm trying to install the youTube plugin (canola2-youtube-plugin_0.1.4-maemo1) on Chinook and I have the following error:
Application packages missing: Canola2 (>= 2.0.0~beta9-maemo3)
The Canola2 that I have installed is 2.0.0~beta9-maemo1 (which is the only beta9 available in the Chinook repository: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/pool/chinook/free/c/canola2/). Is it the same issue that you guys experienced?

Canola is a fabulous application! Its one of the applications I use the most! It makes the tablet a whole lot more useful. I particularly love the Last.FM plugin, I use it daily.

Hi guys, I am having the problem with Canola where it is not finding my music files on the external memory card. I can browse the folders but, it is given me the message on the screen that no items found. Help! The program look nice otherwise.

By the way I have just re-installed it. I thought that would of fix the problem. and some add-ons are unable to install with error message that Canola installed. Weird.

I'm seeing the same symptom. I also can't re-add my podcast urls since downgrading. :( If there's a solution I've missed, I'd love to see it. Otherwise, I'm willing to wait. I've been way too happy with Canola to consider using another player on my IT. :)
