Continuing this thread

here as this has nothing to do with the Mephemeris application:

I would still say that these questions/answers regarding proper repository setup should be in a *different* thread, since people are reading this one for info about Mephemeris...

Anyways, back in msg #73, you showed a screen shot of some of your repositories in Application Manager. Then, in msg #75 you did what I suggested and showed the complete list in text format. I suggested that you do the following in msg #76 (and now mikkov is saying the same thing):

1) Disable one of your 'maemo extras' repositories (you have both a 'chinook' and 'diablo' one.

2) Disable your 'maemo extras devel' repository.

3) Do something to remove the 'duplicate' repository entries that you have for 'maemo extras' (you listed *2* chinook and *2* diablo -- you only want *1* of them, not *4*). Look at your own messages to confirm what we are saying.

Please start a new thread if you have more issues/concerns about this!

Again a listing of all my repositories :

deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ chinook free non-free
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel/ diablo free non-free
deb http://mg.pov.lt/770 diablo user other
deb http://browser-extras.garage.maemo.org/browser-extras/ chinook browser-extras
deb http://reg.fring.com/repository/ chinook release
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ diablo free
deb http://packages.gizmoproject.com/chinook chinook user
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras chinook free non-free
deb http://eko.one.pl/maemo bora user
deb http://upir.cz/maemo diablo main
deb http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/certified/ diablo user
deb http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/non-certified/ diablo user
deb http://catalogue.tableteer.nokia.com/updates/diablo-2/ ./
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ diablo free non-free
deb http://nyctergatis.com/maemo-repository/ diablo free
deb http://pyculator.garage.maemo.org chinook free
deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-devel chinook free non-free

Maybe stupid question, but how can I disable these repositories ?
And do I screw up my tablet then so other apps don't work then ?

[darethehair] and [mikkov] thanks a lot.

but installing python-2.5-btgps still failed "incompatible application".

I would do this:
1. remove all catalogs (which you can) from Application manager -> menu -> Tools -> Application catalog. EDIT: keep Nokia Catalogs
2. Enable maemo Extras http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras (not extras-devel)

Then try to install gpsbt from command line. If it doesn't work copy&paste all messages here.

If it says something about apt-get -f install then type only "apt-get -f install" (without quotes)

1: So I should remove (not disable) ALL catalogs except both Nokia catalogs and Maemo Extras and then enable the latter ?
Does this not mean that many apps won't run anymore ?
I am afraid screwing up my tablet or is there a way to backup ?

But I tried installing gpsbt from the command line which issued some errors:

Disabling is as good as removing. It doesn't affect installed applications, but prevents you from getting further into troubles.

For the latest error try "apt-get remove file proftpd" and then try installing gpsbt again

Lots of thanks !
I ran "apt-get remove file proftpd" and it uninstalled mc (midnight commander) and then I installed gpsbt by command line, installed mEphemeris and then reinstalled mc again and everything worked.
Same applications, but now it was OK.

Same applications, but now it was OK.So u didn't have to remove or disable the catalogs like suggested? I am just wondering cause I am having problems installing apps too and its getting a little nerve recking.
