Hi ...

I am a 5 years old pocketpc user , and now i am using a second hand nokia n800 (ebay) .
The software (maemo (linux)) is very interesting .. At that point i am going to sell my pocketpc (dell axim) ...
but i have a big problem ...

It is possible to stream video directly to nokia n800 with a linux application ?
I have tried mplayer with vlc works ok but you have to execute in the server one script each time you want to see a movie .. We have more options ? Like pmp player (pimpstreamer the server part) in the psp ...?

Also is possible to use firefly (mtdaap) kind of itunes server to stream music ? For me is impossible to make it work ...

Thanks a lot ...

You can stream videos via a UPnP/DLNA server.

Haven't had time to try it myself yet, but Mediatomb (http://mediatomb.cc/) looks good to use to stream the files. hth

Thanks a lot ...

I have tried knots. server / client in n800 . The aplication is good . But image video quality is not good ... Sometimes you get errors in the client (n800) and you have to close and restart ... The project is promissing ...

I will try mediatomb ....

Thanks ...

Thanks for trying it out. What are these problems and why do they require a restart? Do you filenames that have non-utf8 characters in them? Please run knots in terminal and tell me if you get error messages. If it's browsing error, you can go to root from the menu.

As for the quality, you can't get an excellent quality with the n8x0, 400x240 xvid with mp3 sound is quite optimal for streaming.
