If you are eligible to vote in the current Maemo Community Council election, you should have received an email that reads:
Dear <your name>,
The election of the Maemo Community Council is now open.
Voting will run from March 12th (today) until March 19th 2009,
23:59 UTC.
To vote, please go to http://maemo.org/vote/ and follow the
instructions there.
A list of candidates and their reasons for running is available in the
wiki at
http://wiki.maemo.org/Task:Community_Council/Candidate_declarations_for_March_2009
When instructed to do so, enter the following details:
E-mail: <your email address>
Vote token: <your vote token>
The election has 4 steps - first, you must identify yourself using the
voting token above. Then select your preferred candidates in order of
preference. A third step will show you your choice, and ask you to
confirm or return to the previous step. Finally, after confirming your
choice, a unique identifier will be given to you which will allow you to
verify after the election that your vote was counted correctly. To ensure
anonymity, no link will be kept between this token and your identifiers,
so please keep this token safe. Once you have voted, you will not be able
to vote again.
Thank you for your vote!
Regards,
Dave Neary, on behalf of the Maemo community.
This community relies on your participation, so please take a minute to vote!
Thanks,
Tim

Done.
It is a bit ironic seeing
This anonymous token will enable you to verify your vote when the preliminary results will be published. Nobody, even the Membership and Elections Committee, except you knows that this token is associated with you and only you will be able to verify your vote. It is not possible to request this anonymous token later.
when URL is http:// ;) but I got the point. Thanks for the reminder!
I kinda like the way you can vote for as many or as few people as you like. You can either rank all the candidates in the order that you prefer, or just your top few.

Well, I'm glad it's made at least one person happy. There was certainly a lot of whining after the last election (and not much help offered once we set out to appease it). . . .
One of the more important things I've learned being a father:
There will always be whining. You cannot always appease. Choosing your battles is the most important thing. Once you've decided, you have to stand firm. If you change your mind due to whining, you've "let the terrorists win" and you can be assured of one thing; you'll get a lot more whining, because you've shown that it works.
Daddy Qole has spoken. :D

Ranking is a great feature indeed. Very much appreciated!

Voting would be a hot feature, too. I still haven't received "the mail". :(

Is your karma OK? Did you check spam folder?
benny1967

Yes. Karma >300 should do, spam folders were fun to look at (I never knew how easy it was to lose weight! I ordered immediately!), but didn't have the expected result in terms of finding the maemo.org mail.
It's probably due to the crisis. No more money for stamps or something like that ...
Do you have more than one email address related to your account?

yes; i read on the mailing list that the secondary email address would be used. anyway, i checked both accounts.
the same happened before the referendum in february, dave had to re-send me my tokens then.
everythings sorted out, provider's helpdesk re-sent the mail... and it was fun making a choice this time. i even used a spreadsheet to get an overview about candidates, their strengths an weaknesses in relation to things that i consider important.
next time we should have some sort of voting assistant as an application for the tablets... you know, it imports the profiles of all the candidates, you click on what's important for you (popularity? technical skills? looks? based close to your home? using an apple product? humor?) on a scale from 1-5 and the application will rank the candidates for you in the end :D

I do not have "the email" too? My karma is 26. What is the limit of the karma for voting?
I vote on previous elections.

I think you need greater than 25 (or is it 25 and greater; I'm not sure), either way, you should have gotten an email.

a) Look at your spam filter. After my problem was resolved, I received other mails by Dave, all of them went straight to the spam folder on my mail server.
b) Check your account at maemo.org if you're using more than one mail address. AFAIK, they sent it to one of the additional addresses this time, not to the main one, if a user has more than one address registered there.
c) email Dave, the sender of this mail (http://lists.maemo.org/pipermail//maemo-community/2009-March/003508.html). (Just don't want to publish his address in too many places... :D ) - He always helps.
