So... I really really want the RX-51. I'm definitely hanging out for it, because the SIM slot will (I hope) fit my current does-data-but-not-phone SIM and mean I don't have to swap SIMs all the time (I can't keep the data SIM in the phone as the phone belonga work)
However....
My killer N810 app is Gene Cash's calendar. It utterly trashes GPE and mcalendar. But he's vanished off the net as has the bod who ported it to Diablo.
So it looks like if I want it, I will have to port it to Fremantle.
This is not a prospect that fills me with joy as I have no python experience and no experience with deb packaging or porting of any kind.
Clearly I will have to learn how to do this, but no idea where to start!
How do I find out what has to change and what doesn't? Is anyone working on a "how to port from Diablo to Fremantle" document?
Will the tutorials on setting up a 2008 development environment and porting be useful?
What steps should a Fedora using perlprog take to do this job? I'm looking for a roadmap "do this, learn about this from here, do this other thing, test like this".
Where do I go to find a timetable? There are threads on the new hardware but they are hundreds of posts long, it's impossible to find useful information.
(What I really need is a tutor/supervisor to help me out, but that ain't gonna happen! )
