Hi, I want to make a Stalker-inspired theme (see http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/9601/sshpadministrator012508.jpg )
I have the Theme Maker which I see has a couple PSDs and big PNGs, but they're of a different theme. Is there a PSD template using the elements from the default theme? I am getting an N800 soon so I'm not familiar with anything yet, I think it'd be easiest to work with the default theme - then I can A/B it. And/or, is there some kind of emulator I can run OS 2008 on the PC to preview/test things? Thanks!

I'm not sure of any emulator. But when you do get your tablet, you can install the theme that is included with Theme Maker, and then A/B it from there. That's what I did for any theme I made. Also, in the Theme Maker program, there is an option to load a currently created theme and it breaks it down. At least thats what I think it does, I never tried it to see how it worked.

The Maemo SDK is what comes closest to an emulator. It would let you test your theme without needing an actual device.

I thought about that -- although I'm on XP, I guess I would need some kind of environment to run it in. I don't have any programming or Linux experience either (aside from a bit of PHP)

you'll have to use a vmware image : it's quite easy !
check out https://garage.maemo.org/projects/maemovmware/ I'm not sure it is the latest available but you can google it too (vmware maemo)

Hmm, so I've got VMware player and what you provided me but it's not working. I did install Maemo Chinook within the environment -- see http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/3995/wtfkxw.jpg I then ran the Maemo shortcut on the desktop

Any reason why you took Chinook instead of at least Diablo?
The screenshot also looks like you haven't started "af-sb-init.sh start" yet? You probably should...

I have no Linux experience so I had no idea what to do as far as Terminal work. The Maemo VMware site didn't mention any such thing http://maemovmware.garage.maemo.org/installation.html

Well, someone had a link here at one time on how to install Diablo onto QEMU that would allow you to get essentially the Maemo OS emulated on your PC. I've been considering doing it, but haven't taken the time to actually try it yet.

It's ok I'm not in a big rush. Just thought it'd be nice until I get my N800 :)
