View Full Version : Machine Power up by itself
Hey all,
after checking older threads and google the issue I am asking you for help.
My month old device works great but power itself up without asking me every once in a while.
this kills the battery and drives me out of my mind.
I am using 2006 OS (no beta) and no root access.
any ideas?
thanks in advanced
Elay

What do you mean no root access, are you saying you are not in RD mode? I had this problem being in RD mode, but once I went back to normal mode it stopped.
yes. I am not in R&D mode and never was.

Hello Elay,
I had the same problem. I pulled the battery out for about 5 minutes. It happened one more time, then it never came back.
Good Luck,

Thanks for the tip NeoGeo. I started having the same prob when I upgraded to OS2006. I was forced to recharge daily! Since removing and replacing the battery, I haven't had the problem.
Thanx again!
thanks neo but it keeps on booting up.
i looked at var/log/ and was hoping to find something like messages or boot log.
i am not sure what causing this.
my guess a hardware software combination. anyway i will try reflash the os.
thanks again

Neo, the problem has returned. For 2 days in a row it has powered on at about the same time of day. Hum?
Elay, did reflashing work?
thx!

Strangely enough, I set my alarm for the morning.....when it went off, I pressed snooze, and turned it off (spacing out half asleep) and 10 minutes later, it turned on by itself as the alarm went off.....
I then had on/off issues until I pulled the battery.
could this have something to do with an intended but failed feature for the N770 to activate even when off to sound an alarm???

I had the same problem from day one. I tried the battery removal trick but the problem was still there. I did not install anything or flashing it. Just used it. This and other problems made me return it

I checked my time/alarm and found that the time was incorrect. After re-setting the clock, the self-powering problem has not appeared again - 3 days and counting... Thanks for the clue dcarter.

i've noticed that my nokia will loose it's charge over the weekend.
this friday night i used it. i did notice that as soon as i pulled off the protective grey case it turned itself on immediately. i thought that was strange. i did a little browsing. the battery meter showed full. i then hit the power button briefly and selected device off from the menu. i put the cover back on and put the device on a shelf. this morning i try to turn it on, and it comes up to the first Nokia splash screen for about 2 seconds then powers off.
This is the second weekend in a row where it's lost it's charge without me using it.
I don't use R&D mode.
Is this normal? Does the device suck power when turned off?

I had a same problem. Reflash fixed it, but now alarm clock doesn't work. :) Maybe I need to reflash it again..
