where can you download a version of mplayer 26---the home page does not let you download it only the 29 is available and it stops playing sound after using streamtuner

I don't really understand what you mean by 26 or 29, but mplayer 4.6.2-pre1-1maemo3 is available here:
http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/mplayer/ .
If you have issues with that version, please describe them exactly so people here could try to reproduce. :-)

the mplayer stops working and will not play sound after using stream tuner and streamripper to download streams

Interesting where this version is coming from... There's no MPlayer that goes under that version - neither upstream nor Maemo... Unless I'm missing something.

go to the mplayer homepage and then install

all the different versions come up and at the top is version 26

trip: Make it easy to reproduce, e.g. by posting the URL. Don't expect everybody to know the address of the mplayer homepage. :-)

I don't see any download for the ARM platform at mplayerhq.hu.
So what exactly did you download (probably a version that is not meant for the N8x0 platform)?

Ah, and please tell us why the version that has been ported to the Maemo platform that I have mentioned here does not work for you.
