When I connect to a network, I rarely want my NIT to go checking for updates to every app I have installed. I'd much rather be able to manually check for updates every now and then. How can I disable the automatic checking for updates?

There was discussion of this in the "How to stop uncommanded downloads?" thread (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=30251). qwerty12 located the XML (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=304203#post304203) that defines the scheduled check, and with some very careful editing of the file, you could (theoretically) remove the entry. As an alternative, Benson provided a less dangerous solution (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=304311#post304311) that reduces the frequency with which the automatic check occurs to once every 4083 years.

Thanks! Benson's solution seems perfect.
