Phone software update

How does it work to update the software in the N900?
I didnt have the previous versions so I have no idea how it works...

Do we have a synaptic like interface or apt-get upgrade will do the trick?
Is it possible to add different repos to the sources.list?

I heard its Debian based so maybe I am not saying stupidities here...

If its anything like Diablo it will let you know there are either 3rd Party updates or Nokia updates for the Device in the tray icons.

Yes, you can either use a GUI interface or apt-get.
