Nokia has had a long relationship with realplayer. But none of their phones actually use its full functionality. Such as flash video download. Even syncing with realplayer has been horrible. So would the n900 be able to take full advantage of the realplayer desktop experience.

My observation has always been that the Realplayer desktop experience is a painful one. I got the codecs for WMP/VLC and I haven't looked back in years. Why would the N900 want to replicate that?

TBH, I haven't looked at this for a number of years, but if it's still half as bloated as it used to be, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Downloading flash is nice I guess, but you don't need realplayer to do that.

FFMPEG should support most RealPlayer AV (RealVideo/RealAudio) codecs. For the remaining ones it is best to use an other video player which uses the Linux/ARM RV/RA codecs.
