Application Manager - 'Operation Failed' error

Hi,

I'm a new 770 user. I tried to install Xterm using these instructions:

http://770.fs-security.com/xterm/

I added the Application catalogue (http://repository.maemo.org/). However, now whenever I choose 'Tools ---> Application catalouge' or 'Tools --> Refresh list of packages' I get the error 'Operation failed'.

I may have typed in the Repository wrong - but of course I can't change it now due to above error!

I also tried downloading and installing the 3 packages, using 'Package -> Install from file' but got the same 'Operation failed' error.

So, any tips or is it a case of a hard reset and setting up the whole thing from scratch?

You might have had better luck using the directions from the Maemo Wiki (http://maemo.org/maemowiki/ApplicationCatalog2006#head-c590a3897a5b45075a407a7c36319a19dcccc7a8)

You should be able to edit the offending entry using Tools - Application Catalog

If not, I think you'll need to "Become root" The old fashioned way with the Flasher,
Download and install the 3 deb files from here (http://770.fs-security.com/xterm/files/test/) in that order,
Still as root, you'll need to edit /etc/apt/sources.list to delete the offending line.

Then again, If you're a new user and haven't installed many apps, just re-flash the OS and start over.
