In Germany the N900 will arrive at the end of october.
Will there be a syncservice from Nokia or from other Developer for the Mac OS X system?
iCal (WebDav) Adressbook
What about tethering. The connection between the N900 and a MacBookPro by Wifi or Bluetooth?
Is it correct, that the N900 supports the IMAP-protocol like Me.com?
Thx for your feedback:)

Modest, Maemo's e-mail application, supports IMAP(S). IMAP(S) has nothing to do with Me.com.
Tethering should work after a minor edit in config files. See wiki for more information.
The device has SyncML for sync. I don't know what exactly is supported, but iCalendar is a standard, so your question is rather can Maemo 5 import and/or export iCalendar (*.ical)?

iCal also happens to be the calendar in Mac OS X. ;)

The german nokia support gives me the following answer:
"Sehr geehrter ...,
....."
They would told me, that it will possible, that the iSync plugin will be available at the start in late Oktober 2009.
Are there any nokia employee here that could be affirm this?
Thx,
Pit

It's nice to here, that tethering is working for the N900 an the Mac OS X.

Something you might try is using ScheduleWorld (http://www.scheduleworld.com) to sync your calendar, todos, and contacts between all of your devices. I've been using it to keep my 2 Desktops(Home and Work), 1 Laptop, 1 Netbook, Google Calendar, and an E51 in sync.

from what I have read, the n900 does not support syncml over http which is what things like scheduleworld or me or ovi uses.

I've really gone off Scheduleworld.
I was using it like flux41 to sync desktop laptop and n800, and made a big effort to get all my contacts together. Then I bought a MacBook, and hola there is no sync for scheduleworld.
Plus, they asked me to pay! :D

rigth, but neither does the N8x0 and still i use syncml over http on my N810.
it's all a matter of software,

I guess you are using Syncevolution ?
I haven't tested that yet. In any case, for those coming from symbian devices which have supported syncml for a LONG time, this will be a surprise

But cannot be sure without official confirmation. I wouldn't worry though... lets wait, device is not released yet... :) there are some alternatives provided in the thread I link to for in the unfortunate, unlikely case iSync support will never exist for N900.

Honestly I didn't even attempt syncevolution with my n810 since that device doesn't really have an integrated PIM worth anything. I have kept my contacts and calendar on my e71. I am hoping that the n900 will provide some convergence there :)

that's only half true. the data backend on the N810 supports full address data and a calendar; what's missing from a default installation is the front end to display all the information.
which in a first step only means that whatever you sync to your device is partially hidden by the "contacts" application. but it's there.
The solution is called pimlico contacts (http://www.pimlico-project.org/contacts.html). it allows you to view and edit pretty much everything. (there's also a calendar solution.)
pity the developers there abandoned maemo a while ago. their latest working release looks terrible (broken icons, no proper hildonization) but works and is stable (for me).
for me, the N810 shows the same contact info as my S60 phone, and both are synced via http so that they receive data from my desktop PC. i like it and i hope eventually maemo 5 will catch up.

thanks for the info on hacking together something with an old and incomplete pimlico + syncevolution solution.
Hopefully syncevolution will be adaptable to the built-in contacts and calendar in maemo5 which appeara at least to far exceed what was in diablo. Does anyone who has the device or has researched the sdk know what type of backend maemo5 is using for contacts and calendar data?

Replying to myself for the benefit of those not yet voting for this bug:
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2793
Isync currently not possible due to a bug in the N900. We can expect an isync plugin to be possible/available shortly after the first OTA update of the N900.
