Now that many members have a N900 in hand, perhaps one of you can help me answer a question I was recently asked...

I have a Nokia E71 and I'm interesting in acquiring a N900 in the future. Since the OS on both phones are different, I'm wondering if there will be any difficulties to migrate the text messages over?

I'm assuming that many of you already own Nokia phones. Has Nokia provided a means to connect and transfer back and forth to the PC contacts, SMS messages, and other phone specific information to use with your new N900's

The new OVI Suite (https://www.nokiausa.com/get-support-and-software/software/nokia-ovi-suite/howto) recognizes my N810 but there does not seem to be a way to connect. I can not quit file transfer mode. Can the N900 use OVI Suite for transfers?

There's a tab for "Compatibility and Download" on this page (https://www.nokiausa.com/get-support-and-software/software/nokia-ovi-suite/compatibility-and-download#); it lists the N900 and does not list the N8x0's.

Yup... I saw that. Has anyone used OVI suite with their N900 yet and if so; can it transfer SMS?


The N810 reference was because I have the suite for other reasons and found that it did recognize the N810 (see screen shot) but it could not transfer information. :)

Neg, Ovi 2.1.1.1 wouldn't connect with my N900!!
