If you don't like flashing kernel (needed for 2GB MMC or other things) from linux PC over USB cable there is (a bit experimental) kernel flasher that works directly on device.

Now my habit to distribute kernels in zip files looks a bit impractical :-) Fortunately there is unzip http://maemo.org/maemowiki/ApplicationCatalog2006#head-6b396b5bf8f631a8a3fc3586461752ea493acc03 to extract such image on device before flashing.
