View Full Version : [Under consideration] Implement portrait mode in Media Player (audio)
This is the discussion thread related to the Brainstorm proposal Implement portrait mode in Media Player (audio) (http://maemo.org/community/brainstorm/view/implement_portrait_mode_in_fremantle_media_player-audio/)
Pasting a relevant comment here:
Anyway, just a note to say that this is currently under consideration for Fremantle.
Even if it can't be addressed in Fremantle, portrait mode will be fully supported in the Harmattan media player.
Also note that at least Panucci and UKMP offer portrait mode in Maemo 5, so if you are desperate for this feature give them a try. Both are in extras-devel nowadays: bleeding stuff not ready for pure end users:

You can add MediaBox to that mix of players with portrait mode. Currently only in extras-devel and not quite ready for extras-testing, but getting there soon.
Listing these community apps as solutions would be good to reflect the solutions available for end users. Assuming these apps will make it to Extras. ;)

I think this particular brainstorm proposal should just move on to design at this point since there's such an overwhelming demand for portrait mode according to the votes.
Design 1, Design 2, etc... and let the users vote on which solution is best, unless Nokia's already gone past the point of no return internally.

can anyone describe difference between solution 1 and 2, please?

fyi currently this is the 10th most popular proposal in Brainstorm. Looks like lacking several community alternatives listed there as solutions.

i think the best would be just redesigning it.
