T-Mo has officially unveiled at least part of its Project Dark initiative. Take a look at the story here:

http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/25/t-mobile-officially-unveils-99-even-more-79-even-more-plus-pl/

So for me and my new N900 (when it finally arrives) i'm going to get the following:

$59.99 per month

Unlimited Data
Unlimited Text
500 Min. Voice

Not bad if you ask me and this is with NO CONTRACT.

Definitely a step in the right direction and more consistent with the rest of the world. ;)

It's still a rumour that N900 will be part of Project Dark, isn't it?

In the U.S., yes... nothing has been stated about the N900 and T-Mobile.

I got a family plan on Saturday since I didn't like their new pricing plans (especially since they eliminated Fav 5). So between me and her (I'm paying 60.. 35 for minutes and 25 for unlimited smartphone data).

400 min (which won't be used), and Fav 5 (which is where 90% of the calls I make can take care). No SMS but since I can just do that through Google Voice that's not a problem through the unlimited data (which in reality I think is capped at 5 GB a month). So the tradeoff between old TMobile plans and the new ProjectBlack ones were voice minutes usage vs. SMS lol.

and why is this in the N900 section?
what does this has to do with the phone it is just simply a plan,

I clicked "how can I get a lower price?" and this interesting tidbit popped up:

Interest-free phone payment options are available in T-Mobile retail stores. Whichever plan you choose, you may be eligible to pay for your phone over time, interest free. T-Mobile offers qualified Even More and Even More Plus customers an Equipment Installment Plan (EIP) with in-store phone purchase. Learn more about EIP

Maybe someone can got to a T-mobile store and do some recon?

I have just left the T-Mobile store. Yearly savings over Alltel for 2 lines will be $408. Early termination fee for Alltel is $400. I break even from that point of view. Data is truely unlimited with a phone plan. It is limited with a data card. I hope there is a tethering app for the N900. Drawback for me is edge speed is all I get in South Alabama. They had no idea when the tower would be upgraded.

wow these are amazing savings especially for family plans.

I was calculating it out I would get for 4 lines $109/mo for the family plan plus $5/additional line $119/mo for 750 minutes which is comparable to what I have now, and unlimited text and web for all lines...

Right now I pay $129/mo for 1000 minutes (we never use these) and 400 texts on one of the lines, and unlimited web on another one of the lines.

For me to get these same features on all 4 lines I'd have to pay $225/mo

Tempting to get this plan. At the moment, I have:
1000 mins ($39.99) + 400 text ($4.99) + unlimited data ($5). Which comes out to be the same as the new plan... tempting, particularly since I don't do much talk on the phone anyway....

These new T-Mobile plans do not include data for smartphones. That's an extra charge. Included data is for dumbphones.

I was hoping for T-Mo to introduce European-style no-contract pricing to the US, so I could save on the monthly charges with an unlocked N900. Well, they did that with the Even More plus plans. In fact, they are pushing everyone to eventually go non-contract. But for some, especially current T-Mo users, the new deals may work out to be higher than the old deals.

That said, T-Mobile is still far and away the best deal for me - as long as I'm grandfathered in with my old plan. Here's why:

I just found out this morning i get -13% discount for my AAA membership. Called 611 set it up and it saves me over $20/mo. So now I have grandfathered:

2 unlimited Loyalty Family Plan lines............................................$ 90
3rd unlimited line added............................................. ....................$40
1 smartphone dataplan unlimited 3G data + 400 text (plenty)...$25
Total............................................. ............................... ...................$155/mo
Already the cheapest anywhere, now less AAA discount........-$20
Final total (less taxes and fees of course)..................................$135/mo

That's a VERY good deal for 3 unlimited lines and 1 unlimited 3G+text smartphone dataplan. No other carrier can touch it, including T-Mo's new Unlimited EM+ no-contract plan. And I can still get subsidized phones if I re-up for 2 years (though I probably won't, going to unlocked generic phones).

PLUS...the N900 I have on pre-order plays nice with T-Mo's 3G which is getting the speedy HSPA+ upgrade.

Been happily with T-Mo for 12 years. Excellent coverage in my area, never had a problem. Looks like I'll be with them a few more years. But thank goodness for grandfathered plans 'cause Project Black is a loser for many current customers.

I'm not convinced of this....

Read this from the T-Mo site:

With an Android phone, everything you love about the Internet is right on your phone—so it’s easier than ever to connect to the people, places, and information you want, wherever you are. Plus, you can personalize your phone with thousands of downloadable apps from Android Market.

Even More PlusSM Plans feature bundled messaging and Web services, which means that you pick your services according to the plan you select. If you choose an Android phone—which requires a data service in order to fully function—you’d want an Even More Plus Talk + Text + Web plan.

They only offer the new Even More plans.

To test, i added a mytouch into my cart, selected the even more plus unlimited plan and proceeded to checkout without a hitch.

Prior to this, you would have been prompted to select a separate data plan, but not anymore.

That's not what I got.

I just transferred my number from AT&T to T-Mobile earlier today and I got:

Even More Plus (Talk + Text + Web)
No Contract
500 Anywhere minutes
Unlimited Text
Unlimited Data (With a smartphone. I even mentioned that I would be using an n900 when it gets shipped)
Unlimited Nights and Weekends
Unlimited T-Mobile to T-Mobile.

All for $59.99 a month (Plus government taxes of course)

I hope this is helpful for the rest of y'all that are thinking of switching.

i dont see how this is any good if you currently already have a loyalty program...which is wide open to those that have already been on service for 2 years with them.

currently, i have 4 lines on tmo.

family loyalty plan.

90/2 lines
40/ea for 2 lines
1 total internet @ $20 (grandfathered)
2 t-zones @ $5.99 (grandfathered)
1 unlimited text for account @ $10.

$212 +tax...=$236/mo.

new plan

$140/2 lines
$50/ea for 2 lines
2 text messaging @ $20/ea.
2 total unlimited web @ $40/ea.

$360 +tax = $400.

This is as things are not as they were with tmo... I have a a tmo line and att line I been paying a good sum each month with this new plan I didn't need min as of yet still as I am not sure I will use the n900 exclusively... but I kept the line open as I like to test apps and stay up to date... well I had customer service today switch me to a data only with a 10 dollar add on for sms... I told him even though I had a g1 currently I would be switching to the nokia n900 which he knew about after a lil probing on his end switch my contract to data only 39.99 and 10+ add on for 49.99 total... for what I wanted and use its good for me I like that I had the option as before there wasn't and they wouldn't previously... new rules apply for me it works...

Got it. Yeah, I was planning on switching anyhow due to the AT&T network where I live being too crowded. I was having major problems between 4pm - 7pm on weekdays. During those times of the day I would get rejected or dropped calls all the time and a max data rate (on 3G) of 35 Kbps. So, I figured I would take the chance on T-Mobile. The new plans just so happened to come out at a good time :-D.

I'm not convinced of this....(an extra dataplan charge)
Hmmm....seems basically, you're right. I have 3 unlimited talk lines. So to compare the new deal with my grandfathered plan, I tried ordering the Unlimited Family Even More Plus (2 lines) and sure enough, no extra charge for data. Then I added a 3rd unlimited line for $35. BUT, if I want data on the 3rd line, it adds $25 or $60/mo total for the 3rd line.

Total monthly charge for 3 lines, all with unlimited talk, text and data is $200 or $175 if no data is included on the 3rd line. Either way, all 3 lines would include text however. I pay $155/mo now (before my AAA discount) for 3 unlimited lines, But, there's no text or data on 2 of those, it's not needed.

So, all said, I can't get a cheaper deal with the new family plans 'cause the first 2 must include text + data. I would save a little money with an EM+ plan if I ever need 2 or more lines with data.

None of these plans is bad deal, but I was hoping for a bit better price on no-contract pricing.

also, what has not been stated here...

if you migrate to this un-contracted plan from a contracted plan, then there will be ETF and it doesnt matter if you are/are not currently in a contract, there will be a one time $35 migration fee for the first two lines.

rediculous.

Noooo....not THAT much! Should be (this is for Even More Plus understand, and before any taxes, etc.):

$140....2 lines on a family plan, unlimited talk + text + data
$70......2 additional lines ($35/ea) unlimited talk + text
$50......2 data plans ($25/ea) for the additional lines
$260....total for 4 lines, all with unlimited talk + text + data, or
$210....total for 4 lines, all with unlimited talk + text, 2 with unlimited data

Way less than $360/mo.

i think you're doing something wrong here, the 140 covers talk text and web , its +35 per additional line, so you're looking at 140 + 70 = 210

which is unlimited talk, texting, and web for all 4 lines

so you save 2 bucks :D

add AAA for 13% off (show off your id in any store)

or free lancers union for 10% off (just call and say you're part of them no id required)

Well, I made a mistake, this was not taking into account the use of smartphones. I had only added some regular touch phones to the cart.

For the same cart with 4 lines and 4 smart phones (HTC touch Pro) it comes out to $169/mo including the unlimited data for all phones.

It seems to break down like this:

109/mo for 2 lines
+5*2 for 2 more lines
+25*2 for internet for the extra 2 lines

total is $169/mo for everything.

Still a $55/mo savings from what my current plan would be.

I'm checking and it seems that with unlimited it is adding $25/mo for internet per line and an additional $35/mo for the line itself.
I guess that is just because it is in fact Unlimited. for the limited one for 750 minutes it only adds $5/mo

Can someone explain the different between the Unlimited Web and the Total internet access? I just made a HUGE mistake today by switching to the new plan and my internet service stopped working. I used to have the t-zone for $5 and now I am forced to have the Web2Go which does not work so well with my N95 and is asking me to upgrade in order to access certain sites. I understand the Web2Go is the upgraded version of the t-zone but I don't expect it to be giving me so much trouble.

Those that upgraded with the Unlimited Text+Unlimited Web package, do you experience any problem connecting online? I just have the Unlimited Text and added the $10 unlimited Web and things are goddam slooooowww. HUGE mistake by switching. I may probably have to switch to the 500+Unlimited Text + Unlimited Web package....

if you have a 3g compatible phone on tmo, and only had the tzones, you could (not sure about within the last couple of months) change the settings and access the network!

worth a try. you have a 95, so you should know how to change the settings.

for all of us on non-supported devices, be warned that you may be getting a sms letting you know that you have an un-supported device and will be automatically upgraded to the advanced data package or call 611.

I verified this at another T-mobile store that they were having the same problem and that I would not be charged for the addition on the account.

When the rep scanned my N95 the computer put me on a Blackberry plan. I got the OTA programming text that set up MMS, T-Mobile Internet and t-zones as access points. The rep said he'd have to get it corrected to the right plan. The next afternoon I got another OTA message with different information (that somehow seems to have locked out my built-in ringtones), but the phone left the original access points in, so I'm still using the T-Mobile Internet AP, which also works fine when tethering my laptop and N-810. The T-zones access point doesn't seem to work at all.

We'll see when the bill comes, but even with the higher cost Internet I'm saving over my old carrier, and I seem to get better data speed even on edge.

For some reason, the T-mobileWeb did not work with my Ovi Maps...but after I switch it back to my old t-zone, I got the map rocking again... this is sweet. And now, here is the samary of my account:
-1000 Anytime minutes : $39.99
-T-MobileWeb ( which has the same access point at my old T-zone so practically it is the same t-zone (grandpa version of course): $5.95
-500 Text Messaging : $2.95 ( This is the best part. My old plan had me for 400 Texts for 4.95; but now, I have and additional 100 test plus a 2 dollars reduction... Is T-mobile too good to be true or what?)

What I really like is this for the "Even More Plus 500 Talk + Text + Web":

which I read to mean when outside the not-so-great tmobile coverage area ATT voice + edge is available for free. Great!

I've had T-zones for a while now (used it on an iPhone), but i'll be using it on my n900 whenever it arrives. Are we sure that T-zones plans support 3g via the better epc.tmobile.com APN? Even if I only get edge for now I'll be happy (5.95 is tough to beat nowadays), but 3g would be AWESOME. (yes, I'm in a city with 3g coverage now)

Reports from current 3G users is T-zones does not work with 3G- even with the APN hack.

I think the lowest to get 3G is the $20 plan and I will change to this when I get the N900. Currently use the $25 plan since have G1.

$60 savings a year is better than none :)

thanks! That's exactly the type of example I was looking for! How are the speeds, by the way? Ever run speed test on it?

Can you ONLY get data plan and not the voice plan? Or does voice plan always have to be included.

Why bother getting usb stick when you can get it tethered for half the price with unlimited data?

those are all the option he got I am not saying which one he needs thats all upto him to choose.
those are strictly just the options.....
and how is it that its a half price? 59 and 49 thats only $10 of difference.
