I used to have a scratchbox on my Ubuntu, but removed it to make space. The N900 is giving me some new inspiration :)
So now I'm trying to find the proper way to set up Scratchbox on Ubuntu but Google is giving me me too much old stuff. What is the proper place to look? Even just to start.
(I'll be happy to start a wiki page about this once I'm getting somewhere.)

Click the "Development" link at the top of the page; then read the links on the Getting Started. I believe the second link has the wikli page on how to setup the scratchbox from scratch.

P.s If you are using ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) you will need to replace your X11/Xephry as the one that ships in 9.04 has a crashing bug.

[sbox-FREMANTLE_X86: ~] > sb-conf select FREMANTLE_ARMEL
Ok.
[sbox-FREMANTLE_ARMEL: ~] > apt-get update
Ok.
[sbox-FREMANTLE_ARMEL: ~] > fakeroot apt-get install nokia-binaries nokia-apps
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package nokia-binaries
Not ok.
I'm a bit confused.

Ok, I figured it out. I need to add the prioprietary Nokia deb line to both ARMEL's and X86's sources.list. Which is confusing. I added two extra lines in the wiki to clarify this.

Just wondering, how comes the SDK requieres root privileges to run maemo-scratchbox-install_5.0.sh (This is proprietary software owned by Nokia Corporation) ?
I wish only one deb or apt source to be installed (also on amd64) first and the rest of the job is done using distro package manager...
Does this sound useless ?

Hmm it should have already said about that nokia-binaries line in APT

Does this sound useless ?Well, you see, on most UNIX systems you need root access to execute mkdir /scratchbox
Just read the *.sh scripts. It does a lot of sanity checks and such. It selects the packages you need. And so on.
