With 2.2006.39-14 do bt headsets work? keyboard?

Yes, of course you still need the Bluetooth plugin. Why's it surprising on a bugfix release that major new functionality isn't introduced?

TBH, I don't see why Nokia need to bundle BT keyboard support anyway, as has been said on the other threads, it's an open system. Install what you want. Let Nokia use their resources to concentrate on other things.

Of course, once Nokia start officially supporting Bluetooth GPSes, we'll see official Bluetooth support. Which is IT 2007, it seems.

Although there are a number of irritating outstanding bugs in the latest firmware, I don't think it's any worse than the previous. Yes, that is damning with feint praise.

Jesus, Cane - why don't you get your techno luddite paws on a free Windows CE device instead? Then you can spend the rest of your life b[l]ogging (whining?) about how sh1t Windows CE and Microsoft are? Because, you know, Microsoft are a really big company raking in squillions per year and have this reputation for bug-free software (ok, maybe I just made that last bit up).

The new OS isn't perfect, I and others have found bugs too. The way Nokia are managing the IT OS development process, it's not perfect either.

Rather than waste time on your bog, why not open bugzilla tickets and at least try to help fix some of the bugs? Your bog is not helping.

Nothing at all, which is why I've been nagging on maemo-developers for an end-user roadmap.

There are hints of an IT 2007: a reference in Bugzilla to an embedded Bluetooth control panel applet in IT 2007; the reference to a post-"IT 2006 OS" on the Nokia Bluetooth page etc.

But there's no confirmation of anything like that from Nokia :-(

I PM'd you the other day. I have since been in touch with Tommi Komulainen at Nokia and a plan is in place. He was going to chase someone at Nokia to get it out there. And I noticed that he has listed it again on the week's developer issues, so it looks like your roadmap Q will be answered at some point.

The new version still doesn't support bt keyboards without additional software. However:

I've been using a Freedom keyboard. It's an older serial profile keyboard, rather than a HID keyboard. Thus, it requires kbdd rather than the status bar plugin. (Wish I'd known about the distinction before I bought it, but it was an impulse buy on a trip.)

Under the previous version of Maemo, my system was intensely unstable when using the keyboard, rebooting fairly frequently. With 2.2006.39-14, I haven't had any such problems. I think there was some sort of bug involving the interaction between the on-screen input methods and external keyboards that got fixed. I don't really know, but, whatever changed, my keyboard is now usable. (Thank you, developers!)

I'm not certain if my experience carries over to HID keyboards using the bluetooth plugin or not, but I think it does.

I just started using the Think Outside Sierra BT keyboard, which I am pretty sure is an HID BT device, and it works just fine with 2.2006.39-14. My 770 hasn't crashed at all, but Opera has crashed after hitting the enter key - almost every time.

I went to bugzilla and looked at the thread about the BT keyboard crashing Opera problem and posted that it is still a problem even after the upgrade. This was the reply:

The browser problem is not related to this bug of switching the input method,
it's a problem internal to the browser. The SVN version of the BT plugin
contains a workaround for that specific problem.

Now I feel a little silly, and don't want to ask this on the bug page: what is the "SVN version of the BT plugin"?
