This post is unique I would say.

If you want people to actually listen to you.. You might want to read the forum rules.. and maybe post this in the brainstorm forum? maybe.

Thanks for the advice, sorry I'm new over here.. Actually, I moved this topic to the brainstorm forum section already.. so admins please delete this thread!!!

First of all, this is the wrong section. You are asking for features not providing information about possible new ones, so this thread should go to applications.
Now, that that's said, ofc it is possible to use the hildon libs to create such a widget for Maemo5. Experienced Maemo devs should be able to do that in no time. Have a look in extras-devel (I guess you are referring to the N900, so this is your link: http://repository.maemo.org/extras/pool/fremantle/), maybe there is one already.

Hi & welcome to the forum!
I simply don't know Android, but there is an app called "Mclock" to put on the desktop. It is currently tested and once it is "good enough" it will be available from the Extras Repository in the Application Manager.

I'm certain there will be a simple clock widget for maemo avaliable sooner or later. As Cherrypie said, it is quite a simple app to make. But maybe the Android clock is more than that? Could you tell us what features in the Android clock that you wish for the most?

Yes, it is possible.

Thanks for info, I wish I could develop it.. The android widget is simple, it's just an animated clock where the second hand is constantly moving.. Plus it has a lot of high-res skins for personalization!! It's really awesome feature on android!!

People are still using anolog clocks ? ah ah, that's one thing I never liked with Android, no nice digital clock. I'd rather have a big digital clock that tells me the time in a milliseconds.

Garr.
PLEASE DO NOT POST DUPLICATES. NEVER.

Now can somebody merge this with thread 34738?

Same thread as http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=34733 . PLEASE NEVER POST DUPLICATES BY PURPOSE.

Guys, so anybody has any news if someone wants to develop this widget?

And I do like more analog clock rather than digital, it just looks more classic and stylish !

Good clock widget is a must have app for maemo !

Analog clocks are easier to read at a glimpse than digital clocks for those who grew up in an analog world. :)

Plus: I cannot do divisions in my head fast enough.

Ruslex

Haha nah I don't think divisions would be a problem, it's just analog clocks are more aesthetic and eye candy IMHO

You could have a binary clock too ;)

Fully customized clock outlook would also be nice. I was never able to make that hello kitty clock I wanted! :[

I made a brainstorm for clock widget. Hope it's done adequately.

MacSlow's Cairo clock is skinnable and can be easily adapted for a widget.

Hiya Bundyo!

Could you better explain this Q & A in Maemo language?

Q: The clock compiles/installs, but when I run it there is such a terrible black square behind it?
A: Be sure to fire up your compositing-manager and the black square will magically vanish.

Many thanks ahead!

Well, compositing manager = window manager that supports alpha transparency = Compiz, KWin, Matchbox in N900, etc.

Addison
01-31-2010, 03:55 AM
So that means just installing a dependency for that alpha transparency support?

What would this dependency be for someone running Diablo OS?

Bundyo
01-31-2010, 06:44 AM
Diablo window manager doesn't really support compositing, though the desktop widgets there do with some sort of hack. Someone else with more knowledge of Diablo widgets can answers.

Is there a maemo-version ready to install through repositories? I may have tried this on my desktop, but I couldn't edit the background as easily as I would have liked to.

How about an analog/digital clock with the current weather. Once we click on the widget, we see the weather in detail and world clocks :)??
