Hi,

I am thinking of buying the NavigationKit for my 770. I have a question.
The navigation kit consists of maps located on the RS-MMC and DVD. When needed how are the maps located on DVD placed on the RS-MMC. Is there a program available to manage the maps on the RS-MMC. If so is this program OS X compatible?

Thanks,

BC

(Note: an apple user might say/write: is there a iTunes for maps....)

The application which copies the maps to the RS-MMC card is Windows based and I dont think it will run on Linux and Mac. I think you are able to do the copying using an ordinary file manager.

My kit arrived today. I also am a Linux user, so I can post some impressions when I'll find the time to update my tablet to the 2.2006 OS (it's required by specs, I think for bluetooth improvements) and to install the Navicore kit.
BTW I already am a Nokia GPS owner that works very well with MaemoMapper (thx gnuite for it, I already contributed via paypal!) and it is the main reason for which I decided to try the navigation pack (one of my friend needed a GPS,too)
There is a new review of the kit on http://planet.maemo.org

I wanted to copy the UK & France maps to a fresh memory card. I did this using the application on the DVD under Windows XP - looking at the directory structures created it looks like it is not just a case of copying the relevant folders across.

I installed the maps with the memory card in my 770 attached via USB - big mistake it is very slow, took over 30 mins  I reinstalled using a Sandisk USB card reader and it only took a few minutes.

Because I'm a linux-only user too: Is it possible to copy the maps with a linux-filemanager or do you need the windows-application ?

thanx

I am a linux-only user too and perhaps this answer comes a little bit too late for you ;)
But i bought the Navigation Kit for my N800 a few days ago and
tested the Software with wine under linux (ubuntu 7.04, wine 0.9.33)...
...and what should I say: it works!
I changed wineconfig from Win2k to WinXP and had no problems so far!
Also the update application seems to work (not fully tested!).

UPDATE:
Also the update applications works without problems in linux with wine!!!
