Make a widget app to note something on desktop ex. "I must go shopping". Something like the note application on windows 7.

Someone developper occupy with this thought? It's a good and simple idea which not exists. It's very useful in my opinion. Other similar idea is to write whatever we want and to put for screensaver like the windows way.

It exists already for Maemo 4, it's a great implementation, and it's called Yellownotes (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=21407)(which for some mysterious reason has not been put in Extras). (As of today, the most recent .deb is in Post #53. But, as I said, it's for Diablo.)

For older versions of maemo, there is Yellow Notes (https://garage.maemo.org/projects/yellownotes/)
You might want to contact the author and pick up on that.

( shameless plug )
For short bits of text you could try fat-label

http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=425223&postcount=7

fat-label 0.3 won't work for text longer than, say, 5 words. A future version will lift this restriction.

Does anyone knows if there is a kind of a Sticky note application for N900 - something like the desktop post-it ?? that would be nice... we had this similar feature in n9300..individual notes on main home screen...

the current note apps Default Notes or Xournal or Conby or QUicknote are conventional & standard note pad conceps...

sticky note where a user can create a new note with a touch of the icon like how it works in PC desktop. - would be really cool...

any thoughts?

It is in extras-testing as of today: http://maemo.org/packages/package_instance/view/fremantle_extras-testing_free_armel/simplenotewidget/0.1-15

Hopefully, it'll be promoted to extras shortly.

Hi

This is Gabriel Nava, original developer of Yellow Notes.

Today I've published Fremantle port for this home applet, based on iskarion's 0.4 version. This Fremantle version still requires a lot of work to be more finger friendly and improve usability. This is just the initial port having the same look and feel as the Bora/Diablo/Chinook version.

I hope you like and use it. Feedback is appreciated. Many thanks to fiferboy and iskarion for their work porting and keeping YellowNotes available for Diablo/Chinook users.

You can go to Garage and pick 0.4.1 Fremantle package:

One issue so far - unable to set transparency. App allows selection of transparency value but on reverting to desktop does not look at all transparent. Going back into settings shows transparency reverted back to zero.

hi SallyJane

I'm still working in transparency. By now I removed transparency from configuration dialog. You can get updated version from garage, including some bug fixes and settings integration with Desktop edit mode.

Hope you enjoy it!!

Transparency is supported now!!! Please try new version. You can get Yellow Notes v0.5 for Fremantle from Garage, still working on posting it into extras:

https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_id=205&release_id=3617

Still need to work on some usability and finger-friendly features. As always, feedback is appreciated.

There was a bug in 0.5 and previous Fremantle versions causing some black bars/lines to appear in adjacent widgets. This issue is now fixed in version 0.5.2. You can get it from the Garage:

https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_id=205&release_id=3620

Problem selecting custom colors from palette is solved in new version, 0.5.3

You can get it from Garage:

https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_id=205&release_id=3625

Also, package is in extras testing. If you think Yellow Notes deserves to go into Extras repository, I'd thank your vote:

is this the right thread to post bugs about the widget? i hope so. at least mr. nava is the author of it.

take a look at the attachment. sometimes the text gets cut off.
when you switch to another note and back to the current one, it gets fixed though. i still havent found out what causes this...

Hello,

Firstly, a very useful little app. One modification I would like to see would be password protected post-it notes which would only display the text after password entry. I do not know how easy this is to program but was useful for those stickies with memory joggers I wanted to have handy but for no-one else to see.

Possible?

BW
