Picasas shitty copy-control makes me unable to add pics here. :( <link to picasa album> (http://picasaweb.google.com/meizirkki/NokiaN810Mer#)
Mer makes it possible to run most of the Original Maemo apps and most of the apps in Ubuntu-armel repo. That means Synaptic, GIMP, OOo = Ability to run many apps this far is needed to run in debian/ubuntu-chroot in our well-known Maemo-looking hildon-desktop-environment :)

Here are some more cool screenshots of Mer:
I'm currently working with Stskeeps on an installer for the Mer progect so it shuld not be too long before everyone can try this out. :)
Btw, the first picture is FireFox.

I installed themes-os08-12pt from lancode repo, copied icons from maemo and edited toolbar backround (there is a problem with transparency) and made font-size even smaller. Now Mer starts to look "me". :p

Well, icons are copied over form maemo ...
All themes made for maemo i have tested so far are working without an issue, including theme-hackers cool XP and MerEcho themes :)
Network-manager is working too.

I have got lots of support from people at #maemo in FreeNode, thanks everyone :)

Wow, that is really good looking! :D
With Nokia abandoning the Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition, will we see support for WiMAX in Mer? I'd like to run Mer on my N810WE, but I don't want to lose my XOHM (now Clearwire) connectivity.
How is performance of Mer with LXDE, is it a little more sluggish than Maemo?

Best way to do this is helping us out with getting it supported :P I don't own a N810W and probably never will - but afaik the wimax part was fairly open?

Performance all depends on what your running, most of the time I can't see a differance once something is running but alot of apps like Open Office takes a little while longer to open. Firefox runs a little slower but having tabs and other options make it fine for my use.

Mer 0.9 running KDE 4.2.1 with the new Qt 4.5.
Disable Nepomuk desktop search
Enable swap
And it is usable! It eats more battery than hildon, but when i am at home, i am using it all the time. :)
Arora on Maemo has bigger buttons, that are easy to hit by finger. Arora is available for Mer too.

^ One of those proof of concepts I'll probably get burned at the stake for doing. Osso-icons from Fremantle SDK, Mer, FVWM and Fremantle Hildon Application Manager with en_US strings by timeless. I call the UI 'theme'/layout "Freemantle" ;)

This is Fremantle hildon-desktop, mesa SW render, running on X86 in a VirtualBox. It's obviously Mer. I wonder how slow it actually is if you cut out transitions and put them on a OMAP2 device..

meizirkki,
Please let me know what you think of the touchbook? I have been dying to get one, but there have been enough question marks to keep me from spending the money...I have heard about construction problems, balance problems (minor for me), and that they are slooow, compared to an equivalently priced Intel netbook. But they are so cool, and a natural extension for an N8x0 user.
So could you PM me with your impressions or post a review in competitors?
Thanks,
