Hi, I followed the instructions for chinese, http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2929 and I almost succeded. I did get properly binded characters on the bookmarked heading, but not on the actual webpage. To explain further, arabic signs are usually 3 different, one start, middle and ending. This can be compared with old-school handwriting where 'R' looks different if it is in the beginning middle or end. On the website every sign where like a start sign.

Anyone have a suggestion?

Beats me. Japanese worked on the first try.

Maybe try a different font?

I dunno which steps you have gone through, but your results may vary on whether or not the localization files exist for Persian on the 770. I know in the case of Japanese (with 2006 OS) Nokia seemed to have pre-installed the localization files. So for Japanese language support all that needed to be done was install fonts and clear the font cache...etc.

You may need to install locale files for Persian support, maybe?
I know there are other threads and wolfg has written in length about language support on his blog. Here's an entry on how to add locale files: http://guoyong.org/2006/08/03/247

What about the http://browser-extras.garage.maemo.org/install/ttf-arabic.install for the browser?

AFAIK, Arabic & Persian letters are the same.

to installing Persian fonts(not arabic) do following steps:
1.open xterminal
2.type this commands
mkdir ~/.fonts
ln -s ~/.fonts ./MyDocs/fonts
3.copy your fonts to fonts directory(in file manager), don't forget tahoma.ttf
4.reboot
