When I first got my phone I threw in my sim from my iphone on ATT and it worked great. Just like it should.
Then I moved to the everything unlimited plan with t-mobile a few days later and now I have crappy service and people are constantly complaining of calling me and my phone just rings endlessly with no hope of a voicemail, but their calls never come through to my phone. However the calls that do come through If I don't answer them they are forwarded straight to my voicemail and everything works as it should.
What could cause the calls to get lost in oblivion, I would say 30-40%. Is t-mobile just that bad?

I've never had that problem with t-mo.
But if people never reach your VM when their calls don't come through to your phone, it sounds like a problem on T-Mo's side.

But it's not really a phone, it's a computer first, phone second...
sorry I couldn't resist.
In all seriousness though, you may have to test your SIM in a different phone to confirm whether or not is a t-mobile problem or a phone problem.

Don't kill me for asking this, but you checked the very basic stuff, like sound levels and profiles?

When you "moved" everything over from AT&T to T-Mobile, I assume you ported your phone number. It sounds like your number isn't completely ported. i.e. AT&T isn't answering your voice mail, and neither is T-Mobile. Check with T-Mobile, and tell them that you suspect that your number didn't port in properly.

If it's not service provider end it might be a result of switching networks and not updating "phone" in "settings".
I just had the same problem.. just put in the sim for the tmobile connection and called up people.. my calls went through fine but they werent able to call back on my number and it would go into VM.
A restart sorted that out and now it works like it was supposed to.

Yours is a little different. The original poster said that incoming calls were not ringing, or going to VM.
In your situation, the network viewed your device as being off network, and so routed the call to VM. Since his calls are not going to VM, I have a feeling that they aren't being routed on the network properly.
But then again, I could be wrong. Won't be the first time.

Are you saying that some calls are getting through? If so is there a pattern. Landline calls get through, T-Mobile users get through, AT&T users get through.
If this is the problem I think it is, then I would guess that T-Mobile users, especially ones on the same switch, same area code and prefix, can call you, but every one else just gets ringing.

Hi
I have the same problem. The phone vibrates as setup. The call is there but there is no ringing sound. I have the general profile and a ringtone selected. There is sound OK with websites and media players etc. Is it possible to turn it off by mistake?
Thanks for any help

Check your Profile (General vs Silent) by clicking the Power button on the top...

...and when it comes to the *original* issue reported here, this might be https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9391 which Nokia is working on (please no "Me too" comments in Bugzilla as they are not helpful and just create bugmail for everybody - silently clicking "Vote for this bug" is welcome instead). :)

I have the exact same issue and my phone hardly ever rings whether i am on silent mode/general mode, default nokia ringtone, full volume, connected to earphones/not connected etc.
Even a full flash did not solve the issue for me. Calls come as usual and phone displays the call and vibrates only. Speakers work well for every other stuation like music player, system sounds etc.
Could anyone please help on this?
