I just spoke to the Nokia (U.S.A.) order desk- They will be offering the N770 in the USA by the end of next week. She told me the price is $359 :D

I wish we they were accepting pre-orders but I guess we'll just be thankful (and hopeful) that next week really is the opening of the delivery window for all the none developers. The price is no surprise either, especially after seeing the EU pricing.

$359 is considerably less than 350 euros -- like 50 dollars less.

I just called nokia they said November 17th. Just giving you all the heads up. I asked also if they would have limited supplies, they said no that it will be more then last time. They also said $350, not $359. The rep's name was peggy.

Just more proof positive there is no real story here from the Nokia USA order desk. Ask any 3 people and get 3 different answers. I'm just hoping the "blended reality" is the store is open for business/order taking next week at a price less than US$375 with ready access to a reliable source of supply.

Well, my order is still pending at the $350 price as far as I know. I'm assuming since it's in the system and cleared the credit verification, it should ship out as soon as they are in stock. I'll certainly let you folks know if that happens.

I have also been told from a reliable source that next week IS the week the US will see the device... YAY :)

Edit:... I hope I get to keep my test unit... :(

From what I hear, Nokia is pushing extremely hard to get this rolling. But the company won't say anything publicly lest it build expectations that can't be met.

Mike Cane has always said it's more important that they get it right than they get it out early. I'd say that applies to the rollout as well as the device.

I've wondered aloud previously about what Nokia's marketing strategy for the device will be as I believe they have a challenge ahead. As such, I'm curious about how they handle the rollout in the US both because I'm waiting on one and because it goes directly to this strategy. Hopefully, they will have more stock available for sale in the US than they did in European stores.

As of now, all the Euro stores are sold out. That's no stock available over there within 5 days of the press release. Several folks have mentioned emails they received from Nokia Direct indicating a restocking by month's end. I have to say, that's not a great way to start off selling a new product that they're going to have to work hard to market appropriately.

I really do want the 770 to succeed so I hope they get things straightened out. However, if there are supply shortages in the US rollout as well, you really have to question the long-term viability of the 770. Here's to hoping that things are much different going forward.

Yea, I had calculated that the average price over in Europe was $433.76.
