I have not had any problems with my phone, but recently I cant seem to install any more apps.
On the Preparing for installation, please wait screen, it just sits there at 50% for ages without anything else?
Any idea?

Perhaps you might tell which application?
But I would try to reboot and then try again. If it doesn't work, send the log after failed installation from application manager here.

Open up your terminal and type "df"
Report back what it shows.

Well, for example its with the Personal GPRS Monitor.
I have to download some .install file in documents, and when I run that, it just gets stuck at 50%
dl doesnt do anything

Why don't you install directly from Application Manager? I am not sure if it's even supposed to work that way. Do you have internet connection from your N900?

It would be kind of silly to install that app if he doesn't have interweb access from his 900. LOL

Maybe. But asking stupid questions is too often only way to extract critical information.

Are you attempting to install over an Edge network or something?
Also that command was "DF" not "DL"
Also, lowercase.

What did the top two lines of the output show?
Actually for ease, just post the Use% in the top two lines.
The percentage will be right before the "/" on the ends of the lines.

78% and 78%
Seems pretty high?

That's fine. I was just wanting to make sure you weren't in any danger of bricking your device if you had installed a bunch of apps from testing and devel.
You stated you had installed a lot of apps. If you're dabbling in testing and devel you need to be careful, but otherwise you should be fine.
78% is pretty close to normal. Sounds like you may have mplayer installed or something.
If you reboot the machine and do another df it will probably drop a couple of percent. This is because there is a bug that exists where space on the root partition (that's the "/" I was telling you about) isn't cleaned out after installing things. It gets cleared during a restart.

You can delete the .install files if you've downloaded them and installed from them. You can also remove the "tutorial home applet", which, as the name says, is a home applet which provides a tutorial on how to use the device.

While installing and when someone call you and u pick up the phone and talk...it got stuck too if you hang up the phone and go back and check and you notice the bar is froze and not moving you're not able to get rid of it!
