Hi kelkel! It seems to be an hardware problem, if I were you I'd reflash your N900 and, if the problem still exist, I'd use my warranty and send it back to Nokia for repairing!

please verify that wifi is on.

let me explain a little more. If you have root access on your phone, go ahead and jump into xterm, sudo up and then type 'ifconfig' this will give you your adapters/interfaces and their various states/MACs/IP addresses. if you do not see something like wlan0 then you may be in trouble. If that is the case type 'ifconfig wlan0 up' and then try 'ifconfig' again. hopefully this helps you out.

He said he was searching for Networks, so I think that his wifi had to be on.

You're obviously right, but what could have turned his wifi off?

ok, let try to bring the interface down, then back up.

type "ifconfig wlan0 down" (without the lil quotation marks =P)
then
type "ifconfig wlan0 up"
then try to connect to a network again.

aslo, is this one specific network youre not seeing? if so is it your persoanl wifi and what kind of hardware is it?

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem as was stated in the first msg. The N900 doesn't find any wireless networks (I have two N900's here and the other doesn't have any problems finding networks). With my luck I guess the thing is just broken, but I'm still hopeful enough to try something. :)

I have re-flashed the device, but that didn't help.

As a complete noob with linux, I haven't been able to to run the ifconfig in xterm, but still trying. If someone has the time to spare, I'd really appreciate if someone can explain me what "sudo up" -means. :)

Cheers,
-Jaoimy

Ok, got root access and I got a mac-adress so there seems to be no problem as such in the wireless-module, I guess it's just broken :(

"sudo ifconfig wlan0 up" start the device "wlan0" wich is the wireless network...

i think it's broken... I wanna cry :p

I'm having the same issue have ever the commands in this list do not do anything.
:(

I dont understand this at all.

Edit - Randomly it's just found a neighbours network.

However the laptop is on me and showing, our network is the strongest ??

ours doesn't show up on the N900,

edit2-

Now no networks are showing up..

This is suppose to be an internet tablet, with range this bad, it is very very bad, standing next to the router it still doesn't find anything.

typing ifconfig in xterminal gives me

-sh: ifconfig: not found
