Anyone using N900 to open, create, write Microsoft Docs on the go? Before I buy N900, I need to make sure I can do this. This is one of the main reason for buying this device.

Theres an office app that comes pre installed that is a trial with the option of buying but its only a viewer atm.

Well.. technically it can. With Easy Debian. You get full OpenOffice - albeit.. the application feels sluggish according to most peoples reports. I imagine things like KWrite would also be possible in this method. Might want to ask someone to try it and see if it's any faster than OpenOffice..

But, it *can* be done... but Easy Debian is considered "devel" software, and not in the main extras repository, yet.

Abiword is quite fast in easy debian (and if you're a regular linux user it is really easy to set up).

I haven't used it much myself since I write all my stuff in plain text or LaTeX (which by the way works beautifully in easy debian).

Your main reason is that you want to design beautiful, business quality documents on a tiny screen? That's amazing. I can imagine creating text on a little device, but looking for typos? Making serious business decisions about presentation?

I think you can create documents at the least by using the Google documents program.

Not yet, see above. DataViz's Document To Go is read-only at the moment, but given that for all the other platforms they have a full version, I expect the same for Maemo too.

As mentioned above, Google Docs work just fine for Creating/Editing MS Office and OpenOffice.org files. I am tempted to buy Documents 2 Go for offline access to files (although I haven't checked to see if it supports ODF), but only if they promise to provide editing functionality when available as a free upgrade.
