I read on the site before about some efforts to release larger batteries, but I still have no seen anything, did I miss anything?
As far as I know of there are no new/better batteries for the N900 :(

Umm.. How long does your battery last for you? mine was discharged since 2am last night and now it's 12:01am and still got 40% left with my quite heavy usage. GPS, MMS, WIFI, web browsing, Video recording, Photos taking, Sending stuff over bluetooth, Playing with the UI and apps.
surely it last me nearly 24hours already. lol. With Idling it would last me like 4 to 5 days with 3G connection

I dont use 3g and it would last probably 36ish hours when using it for me (including my sleep so idling). I have heard that the next firmware update has a huge improvement though (from the other thread where the person says he is testing it).

I charge daily as I find I am using my N900 more and more to the point that the laptop rarely gets booted up. I bought a new dc-11 on eBay in case I get caught short :D

You probably mean a battery being developed by Mugen Baterries (http://www.mugenbattery.com/) which apparently is to be released, dont know what capacity though.

I leave pidgin running on edge and it drains pretty fast even on standby.
Anyone know if this would work, n900 uses a standard mini usb plug?

It's not a mini USB on N900 but a micro USB
Why you need a cable ? There is already one included in the box !

I travel frequently so I always like to have a second charger in my briefcase.

It would be great if nokia made and OEM larger battery the same size as the one that came with the phone. One can dream eh

Your right. Reason I bet because people will complain that the new bigger better battery should have came with the phone

yep what thay have done is used the same battery as used in the other nokia(forgot what it was called) to save some development costs..
the battery is not good enough for me and i carry 2 about, because i had a dodgy rebooting device and had to turn of the power off mode settings

I'm not sure that it's possible for nokia to do that. I think they have contract with battery manufacturer(s), so their batteries are made with a unique type of cell, which can't handle more mAh in the same volume. I don't know if someone has a N900 battery to compare to a N97 battery for example, but I'm pretty sure that the 1500 mAh battery is 10% bigger than the 1320mAh battery of the N900.
Unless a change of technology or manufacturer, no way to see a BL5J-size-equivalent battery with more juice in it.
But it's hard to understand why in such a big device they haven't tried to put a 1500 or 1800mAh battery...

Well if nokia ever release an OEM car charger I will be fine. I will buy that and an extra wall charger and I will be set
*sidenote* they and I use the term loosely that the new firmware improved the battery life alot but only time will tell after we get the update and daily useage will tell

welll of course it could have been implemented but development costs were considered(it doesnt have to be direct costs), and they used all old battery to power this beast.
this phone was never gonna make bundles- its an almost prototype type phone- they are not gonna go miles over budget's just yet.

Has anyone contacted Mugen for the bigger batteries? I did but have not heard from then yet. they make 1700mah slim battery for N97.

Are their batteries any good, how many cycles do they last for?

Mugen batteries are good but expensive. I have one on my N810. I haven't counted how many cycles it lasts, but apparently plenty.

I hope you say "had" because you replaced your n900.

What does this mean? Nokia has the DC-6 car charger, costs about 11 Euro. A third party non nokia DC-6 clone goes for half of that.

Oh wow a 2400 mah battery! I thought they only would develop a battery with the same mah as the original, which is like 1300mah

No, Mugen often do larger batteries. It'll require a new back piece for the phone though - usually (IMHO) making it butt-ugly and too large to use conveniently.

I'm really interested to see what they do with a revised back cover design.

All depends on the use case.
