Since its too complicated to build a theme I decided to edit a theme and make it my own. Coz personally i dont like the themes that are being release right now and there are no alternatives out there. I want more eyecandy on my device so i created my own.

You could do one of those with Tux all over it. Or bears. We need a theme with bears. Lots of bears.

Epic! Please do some more and release them here :) Perhaps a Bearbrick version?

I don't think it's strictly legal to adapt a theme and release it - copyright issues. You can make one for yourself though.

If theme maker were less scary, I'd make a bear theme . :)

Well, technically Theme Maker is just a one picture and one button. Draw it and build it. How's that scary? :)

If it's an open source theme that should be ok as long as you follow the license agreement :)

what made the iphone community huge were the unofficial, semi legal themes you could install for free on jailbroken devices. anything from man utd to mercedes to hello kitty. if it's not okay to release them on maemo.org then we should find somewhere else to share them.

So it's a Digital Nature with the backgrounds and the swipescreen changed?

I was going by the conversation in this thread (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=40001) where the legality of adapting someone else's work was discussed.

I have loads of themes and wallpapers for my n95, and even had them for the SE phones. I like my device to reflect things like the season and my mood. (I posted my Christmas screens somwhere). I don't honestly know the legal status of most of them.

Kathy if you want bear theme send me some bears you want in it and I'll make it for you. Color Template would be nice to.

Oh thank you! If I supply a range of Bear photos would that do? I can get plenty. Give me a day or two to get the family to pose. I have a few - my cricket-playing bear, belly-dancing bear etc, but I'll get a load of them and you can pick what works.

As for colours - dark backgrounds seem to work best on n900, and bears would want warm friendly colours like reds, oranges and tans.

:)

Edit: I've opened a directory for bear-pics here: http://www.revdkathy.co.uk/images/bears/ so there's a few to be looking at for now. I also wondered whether some clever person with a cut or clone tool could neaten up my beach pic so it would make a theme base?

(attaching in hope!)
